Friday Night Funkin is a completely open-source game focused on rhythm consistency that was developed by four users of the entertainment website Newgrounds. One of its main draws for its player base is its distinctly pixelated aesthetic combined with a very colourful art style, reminiscent of the classic Adobe Flash player games of the 2010s, bringing back to mind an era of gaming that is surely very nostalgic for the majority of us.
In this article, we will be talking about the Tricky Mod Low-End, which replaces the assets of the Tricky Mod for Friday Night Funkin with lighter and easier to load ones, thus allowing the mod to be run on lower-end systems. It must be kept in mind that for this mod to work, you must first have the Full Tricky Mod installed, which you most likely already do, seeing as you’re here! If not, here’s the download link for the full Tricky Mod which you will first need to get the low-end version of the tricky mod to work.
Once you have the Full Tricky Mod, you can now get the low-end version of the mod to have certain changes to the mod via the official GameBanana site for this mod or the direct download link here. In case you were wondering what exactly the low-end version of this mod sacrifices so as to have it run on lower-end systems, here’s the changes:
- Removal of cutscenes
- Lower visual and audio quality
- Some graphics (fire arrows, fire arrow explosion) have been completely swapped with less resource-intensive alternatives
- Removal of Tricky’s static and red text effect
This altered version of the Tricky Mod was submitted by doggydventures, while Banbuds was the Director, Artist and Animator of the original mod.
