Fix: NFS Unbound DirectX Error
1) Change Resolution
There have been reports where players who were facing the DirectX Error were able to resolve it after lowering the resolution of the game from Ultrawide to standard 1440p (2560×1440) or lower. For the game to support the ultrawide resolution, you would have to wait for developers to roll out a stable patch update. If you are unable to launch the game, you can lower the resolution through NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD’s support software as well.
2) Delete the DX12 file
Deleting the DX12 files has also resolved the NFS Unbound Crashing issue for many players. As it is a DirectX cache file, you can remove it and see if it fixes the issue for you. To locate this file you can head to the following paths:
- Documents\Need For Speed(TM) Unbound\cache
- Origin Games\Need for Speed Unbound\shadercache
3) Verify Game Files
If you are facing this error because of missing or corrupted game files, then you must verify the game files. To do that, go to Steam > Library > right-click on NFS Unbound > Properties > Local Files > “Verify Integrity of Game Files”. This process might take a few minutes.
4) Repair C++ Files:
There is a possibility that Visual C++ redistributable files are causing this error. To eliminate this possibility, you must reinstall or repair the Visual C++ files from the official website of Microsoft.
5) Update Windows
Check if there are any pending Windows updates. If there are, make sure to update your Windows to the latest version available. To check the same, type “Updates” in the Windows Search Bar and select the first result.
6) Reinstall the game
If you are still unable to resolve this issue, you can try reinstalling the game. After a fresh installation, the issue should be fixed.
