EA Sports FC 24 is more or less the newest FIFA game. Since EA’s FIFA license expired, the California-based video game development and publishing studio decided to publish its football games under this new EA Sports FC title. The latest game saw its official release on September 29, 2023, and is available for all major platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. Developed on the good-old Frostbite engine, EA Sports FC 24 boasts a ton of new improvements from the previous titles, along with a plethora of content to enjoy and play. But like its predecessors, the latest game too suffers from a myriad of frustrating issues. This guide in particular will help you deal with the “Connecting to Ultimate Team is not possible at the moment” error.
Well, this is related to the Ultimate Team mode, as the error title suggests. For the uninitiated, Ultimate Team is a mode in the game in which you can build your dream squad and then play against other players’ dream teams. As for this error, players are unable to connect and play this game mode since “Connecting to Ultimate Team is not possible at the moment” pops up on their screen when trying to access it. EA Sports FC 24 has this game mode as one of its main showcases, and this error isn’t making it look good at all. But what’s worse is that this issue was present in past titles as well. So, EA not doing anything to curb errors like this is not a good sign. But does this error have any fixes available at all? Continue reading to find out!
EA Sports FC 24 “Connecting to Ultimate Team is not possible at the moment” error: Is there any fix yet
Players will have to try the following workarounds to fix this issue. In the absence of an official fix, these workarounds are your only shot at fixing the issue for good.
Restart –
First, start with this method. Restarting is an effective workaround for dealing with a myriad of issues, so give it a try. Restart the game first, and if that doesn’t work, do the same with your PC or console. If the issue remains, move on to another workaround.
Check server status –
One of the reasons behind this issue could be that the game’s server is simply busy or under maintenance. That’s why you should always check if the servers are online or not. Now and in the future, too. EA has a dedicated Twitter (X) handle for that purpose, where you can also get details on any upcoming updates and such. Go there and see if the developers have made any server-related announcements.
Check internet connection –
When you encounter such errors, always check that your internet connection is working properly. See to it that there are no major interferences and that your internet speed is good enough. You can even restart or reset your router and then see if that helps.
Switch to Ethernet –
If you’ve been using Wi-Fi so far, switch to Ethernet and see how it goes. The reason we recommend switching to Ethernet is because it allows for faster speed and no major interference. Just plug in your Ethernet cable and check if the error continues to cause trouble.
Remove Ada Hegerberg –
A community manager suggested removing Ada Hegerberg player item from the Starting 11, and from the substitution bench. That particular player seems to be a common cause among many issues in the game right now, so it will be better to just not use them for a while. You can use the player once the issue is fixed, though. But for now, steer clear of that player.
Whitelist EA Sports FC 24 from the firewall (PC method)–
Windows Firewall is a regular culprit behind blocking internet access for apps and games due to some vague or strange reasons. In order to correct that mistake or prevent it from happening:
- Head to Windows Settings > Windows Security > Firewall & Network Protection.
- Now in the new window, scroll down and click on the “Allow an app through a firewall” option.
- Another new window will pop up now. But before we can do anything, you need to click on the “Change settings” button located at the top right corner.
- Don’t forget to click Yes when prompted to give admin rights.
- Next, on the list below, find EA Sports FC 24. In case you are unable to find it, click on the “Allow another app…” option and add the game.
- Tick both Private and Public options near EA Sports FC 24.
- Finish the process by clicking OK.
Verify game files (PC method)–
During this process, your game’s files will be thoroughly checked for any kind of missing or corrupted files and will be repaired accordingly. It’s a common workaround for a lot of issues so, give this one a try. Now in order to verify and repair game files, what you need to do is –
EA App
- Launch the EA desktop app and click on My Collection (it’s located on the left side of the screen).
- Next, just click on the three dots near EA Sports FC 24 and select Repair.
- Once the process is complete, restart your PC and then start the game.
Epic Games
- Start the Epic Games Launcher and click on Library (also located on the left side).
- Next, click on the three dots near EA Sports FC 24 to select Manage > Verify.
- Restart the PC and then launch the game.
Steam
- Open Steam and click on Library.
- Now look for EA Sports FC 24 and right-click on it.
- Select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
- After the verification is done, close Steam and restart the PC. Start the game and see if the issue persists.
Change DNS (PC Method) –
Changing DNS might work, as it’s quite a common fix for connection-related issues. If you want to change DNS, we suggest using Google’s public DNS, as that one is completely free to use. Now, in order to change DNS, you need to:
- Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
- Now, choose the connection for which you would like to change DNS. Of its Ethernet, right-click on it and select Properties. If it’s Wi-Fi, do the same thing.
- Next, select the Networking tab. Look for “This connection uses the following items”, and select IPV4 or IPV6, and click on Properties once again.
- Select Advanced and switch to the DNS tab. Write down any DNS server IP addresses listed there and click OK.
- Now, select “Use the following DNS server addresses”. Write down any DNS server IP addresses, if listed. Don’t forget to remove them after that.
- Replace those DNS IP addresses with the following:
- IPv4: 8.8.8.8 (Primary) and 8.8.4.4 (Secondary)
- IPv6: 2001:4860:4860::8888 (Primary) and 2001:4860:4860::8844 (Secondary)
- Now launch the game and see if you still face the issue.
To change DNS on other platforms, head to the following links:
Flush DNS (PC Method) –
If changing the DNS doesn’t work, you can try flushing the DNS and see how it goes. And it’s pretty easy to do that, actually. Just follow the given steps:
- Click on Start and type in Command Prompt in the search bar.
- Launch it and then type in or copy-paste the following: ipconfig /flushdns
Once you see “Successfully flushed the DBS Resolver cache”, close the Command Prompt.
Update EA Sports FC 24 –
While we can’t say if this will completely fix this error, we still suggest that you download and install the latest available updates. Doing so will help fix lots of other issues, and possibly this one too. If you still continue to encounter this error, go ahead and try another workaround.
Reinstall –
This is the last option if none of the previously mentioned workarounds provide any meaningful results. Just save your progress, uninstall EA Sports FC 24, and then perform a re-download. After the installation is complete, start the game.
Contact support –
If even reinstalling doesn’t work, we recommend you contact support. Have them take a look at the issue and then see what happens. Maybe they might be able to help you with this issue.
We hope that at least one of the workarounds shared here was able to fix this issue. Sadly, this isn’t the end of EA Sports FC 24’s problems. Players have been complaining about a lot of other problems too. A major one is the “There is a problem with your download” issue.
