It’s about a year since the US government placed a ban on Huawei for doing business with any US-based company. The worst consequence of the ban was that Google had to terminate Huawei’s license to use the Android system. Well, Huawei was aware of such happening and was building its UI and other necessary items to power its smartphones, behind the scenes. But, Google services like Google Maps, Gmail, Youtube, and the Google Play store are some basics things, without which any Android phone users can’t imagine their phone. Well, the new Huawei Phones are shipped without these services. Huawei launched its App Gallery last year as an alternative to Play store, albeit the number of apps on the former are quite less, but Huawei is aggressively working to bring more and more app and services to AppGallery.
Well, now, as an alternative to Google Maps, Huawei has brought – HERE WeGO Maps on its App Gallery. If you are a techie person, you might have heard the name “HERE Maps.” Originally HERE maps were developed by Nokia back in 2012 for Windows Phones. HERE Maps were rebranded version of Nokia Maps, which itself was called OVI Maps, earlier. Well, it’s quite older and is a reliable service. And as now, Huawei has brought the service to App Gallery; its users now at least have a reliable navigation service.
