Starfield How to level up Piloting Skill fast

Starfield is finally out for everyone to play after being in early access for 5 days. As you can imagine, in the game, you will be exploring the depths of space in your spaceship. But, during the initial phase of your in-game journey, you will not have much piloting skill. So, in this article, we will share strategies to level up this skill as fast as possible.

In Starfield, the piloting skill system is about becoming a better spaceship pilot. At rank 1, you learn to use ship thrusters; at rank 2, you get better at turning and maneuvering. By reaching rank 3, you unlock the ability to pilot Class B ships, which are more advanced. Finally, at rank 4, you can pilot Class C ships. So, if you are into ship collecting, you must make sure that you have a high rank in the Piloting skill so that you can take over massive ships. With that being said, here’s how to level it up fast.

Starfield How to level up Piloting Skill fast

Well, destroying enemy ships is the only way to level up your piloting skills. If you think about it, it should not be a big deal at all. After all, the game offers you the vastness of space and all the hostile forces it contains. But if you hop on your ship and go on a killing spree, you will soon realize that there is a lot of grinding required to hit rank 4. So, to make the grind faster and a tad bit easier, you can make use of the simulator present in the game. But where is it located?

Use the Vanguard Pilot Simulator

To keep it simple, accessing and using the pilot simulator involves completing a short quest in the MAST headquarters, which will unlock the simulator. Inside the simulator, you can complete challenges related to ship destruction to level up your piloting skills efficiently. Follow the given steps to unlock it:

  • Visit the MAST headquarters, which is a building labeled “Mast”. You’ll find this building in New Atlantis.
  • Once inside the MAST headquarters, speak to a character called Commander Tuala, who sits in the lobby with the big “Vanguard” sign. This NPC will offer you a quick quest (Supra El Ultra quest) since you will be enrolling to become a Vanguard. During this process, you will have to sit for a pilot exam and pass it with flying colors. After completing the quest, the pilot simulator will be unlocked for you to use.
  • Inside the pilot simulator, every ship you take out and destroy will contribute to your piloting skill and challenge bonus.
  • The challenge bonus might involve tasks like destroying a certain number of ships. For example, if it says “Destroy five ships,” you can easily achieve this within the simulator, as each run usually involves destroying more than five ships.

Well, by completing these challenges in the simulator, you’ll quickly level up your piloting skills.

Missions involving Destroying other ships

Since obliterating other ships is the only way to increase your piloting skill, you need to take on missions that involve taking down other ships. For example, you can level up your piloting skills in Starfield through the Freestar Rangers faction. So, locate Akila City on the planet Akila in the Cheyenne system. Join the Freestar Rangers and accept space cop missions from their board, which often involve combat scenarios. Complete these missions repeatedly to improve your piloting skills and unlock higher-class ships while enjoying law enforcement adventures in space. Even though this will help you increase your piloting skill, using the simulator is still the best way to hit the highest piloting rank in the game.

So, this is how you can increase your Piloting skills in Starfield. We hope this guide was helpful. For more reads like this, make sure to stay tuned to DigiStatement. And before you leave, click on this link for a guide on how to bribe NPCs in the game.
