Starfield Echoes of the Past Quest Bug: Is there any fix yet

Starfield Echoes of the Past Quest Bug: Is there any fix yet

Great RPGs and Bethesda have always gone hand in hand. Bethesda and countless bugs have also always gone hand in hand. While Starfield is no Fallout 74, it’s still nowhere near anything resembling a technical issue-free game. And from the myriad of bugs currently affecting Starfield, we will be focusing on one of them. The bugs related to the Echoes of the Past quest, to be exact.

Belonging to the Crimson Fleet questline, competing in this quest will net you the following –

  • UC Prison ShuttleKeelhauler
  • 20000 Credits
  • 350 exp

But before you can collect those sweet rewards, you will have to deal with the bugs that you will eventually encounter in this quest. For this mission, you will be accompanying Delgado and Mathis. But due to a bug, Delgado sometimes tends to disappear or get stuck. And you kind of need Delgado to finish this mission. So, is there a fix? Let’s find out!

Try the following workarounds and see which one proves useful. As for an official fix, Bethesda is yet to put out one.

Fast travel to your ship –

A player was able to fix the disappeared Delgado bug by fast traveling to their ship and then heading back to the door of The Lock. Try this and see if it helps with getting rid of this bug. Additionally, you can also try waiting or sleeping for a set amount of time on your ship.

Pistol whip Delgado –

This workaround is for the bug where Delgado gets stuck at the bottom of the stairs. Thanks to u/CurrencyNo8720, all you need to do is leave your companion so that you can go solo for this mission. Next, start pistol-whipping Delgado right towards the big room nearby. Eventually, Delgado’s AI will start functioning normally, and you will be able to move forward with the quest.

Use console command –

u/dovahkiinathayDah was kind enough to share their own fix for the disappeared Delgado bug. Now, before you proceed with this method, know that this one can’t be used on Xbox consoles and that using the console command will disable achievements for the current run. Now that we’ve cleared everything, here’s what you need to do –

  • Press the tilde (~) key and open the console command.
  • Enter: tcl. This will turn the collision off. You can close the console now.
  • Now, head to the space shuttle in order to enter its cabin. Take command of it and get to the key station.
  • Walk to the area where Delgado is supposed to be and open the console. Enter the following command: prid 001e220.
  • After that type: enable. Close the console. Delgado will now appear in the key station, and you will be able to continue on with the quest.

Players can also use commands like “movetoplayer <NPCid>” to get an NPC close to them, which in this case would be Delgado. As for getting the NPC ID, you can find it by clicking on the target NPC.

Get rid of your companion –

When progressing in bug-filled quests, it’s always better to do them solo unless the quest specifically necessitates one. Have your companion assigned to the ship and take on the quest solo.

Fast travel to another place –

Try fast-traveling to a different place and then back to the quest area. It’s a recommended workaround for many bugs, so there’s really no harm in trying it out.

We hope that at least one of the workarounds mentioned here has helped you deal with this issue. In case you want to know more about lockpicking in Starfield, here’s a guide for you. And as always, keep checking out DigiStatement. Also, read: Starfield Door Placement in Ship Builder Menu Explained
