Sons of the Forest is a thrilling survival game released on the 23rd of February. It transports players to a mysterious and dangerous island. As you venture deep into the forest, you’ll encounter all sorts of challenges and obstacles, from hostile creatures to treacherous terrain. But with your wits, skill, and a bit of luck, you’ll be able to overcome these obstacles and emerge victorious. With its stunning visuals, heart-pumping soundtrack, and engaging gameplay, Sons of the Forest is a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat. With such promising levels of immersion, you would want to enjoy the game with the highest possible FPS and lowest input lags. In this article, we will go over the best settings to achieve the same.

In survival games, having high FPS and low input lag can make a significant difference in gameplay. High FPS means that the game runs smoother and more fluidly. It also allows players to react more quickly and accurately to what’s happening on-screen. Low input lag means that the game responds quickly to player inputs, reducing the delay between when a player presses a button or moves their mouse, and when the action is performed on-screen. A combination of high fps and low input lag can enhance the overall gameplay experience. Keep reading to get the best settings for the highest FPS and low input lag in Sons of the Forest.

To go about tweaking the settings in the game, you first need to launch the game and head over to the “Options” menu. Under this menu, we will be making changes in the “Display” and “Graphics” tabs. Listed below are the best settings for the same.

Display

  • Resolution: 1080p/1440p
  • Fullscreen: Exclusive Fullscreen
  • Vsync: Disabled
  • Max FPS: Max

Gamma and brightness values do not affect the performance so you can set them to your preference. After you have made those changes, it is time to head over to the “Graphics” tab and make the following changes.

Graphics

  • Quality Preset: Custom
  • Draw Distance: Set it to “High” if you have enough VRAM or stick with “Medium”
  • Ambient Occulsion: Low
  • Fog Quality: Low
  • Anisotropic Textures: Low
  • Shadows: Low
  • Clouds: Low
  • Grass: Low
  • Water: Low
  • Parallax Distance: Medium
  • Billboard Quality: Low
  • Texture Resolution: Eighth (if you have 2-3GB of VRAM, set it to higher values if you have more VRAM)
  • Dynamic Resolution: DLSS (If you have an Nvidia graphic card, set the DLSS value to “Balanced”)
  • Dynamic Resolution: FSR 1.0 (For cards with no DLSS support, set the “Dynamic Resolution Target” value to 70)
  • Bloom: On/Off. It does not affect performance
  • Screen Space Reflection: On
  • Motion Blur: According to your preference.
  • Micro Shadowing: Off
  • Contact Shadowing: Off
  • Chromatic Aberration: On
  • Film Grain: Off
  • Color Grade: Set it according to your preference.

And those are the best settings to achieve the maximum FPS and lowest input lag in Sons of the Forest. Remember that ultimately, the FPS is hugely dependent on the system that you are playing the game on. Yet, these settings are sure to optimize the game. We hope that this guide was helpful.
