According to the official patch notes for Hotfix 3 (0.7.1.4), the devs have fixed a sneaky issue where gem drop rates were unintentionally nerfed if you were too skilled at mining, especially after reloading into a world. So if you’re still not seeing those Sapphires drop, there’s a good chance you might be running an older version of the game. Double-check for updates and make sure you’ve got the latest hotfix installed!
Mining tips
There are a few important things you’ll need to do before they start showing up in your inventory. First and foremost, make sure you’ve selected Mining as your primary skill. Next, focus on leveling up your mining skill to at least level 16. This is the required threshold before the game begins to roll the dice on rare gem drops from specific ores. You’ll gain mining XP as you harvest different types of ore, so just keep digging and smelting until you hit that sweet spot. Once you’ve met the requirements, here is how the gem drop system works.
