In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, hunting down rare crafting materials is half the thrill, and sapphires are one of those shiny little gems that players are scrambling to find. Whether you’re chasing upgrades, socketing gear, or just hoarding like a true adventurer, these blue beauties play a key role in progression. But like most good loot, they are at places that aren’t always obvious. So, if you are looking to find them but struggling to do so, we’ll show you exactly where to find them!
The frustration among Dragonwilds players is mining endlessly, often with maxed-out skills, only to come up empty-handed when it comes to sapphires. Despite gathering plenty of gold and other ores, these elusive gems just don’t seem to drop as expected. This has led many to wonder if they’re missing something crucial or if sapphires have specific spawn conditions that aren’t immediately obvious.
RuneScape Dragonwilds Sapphire: How to get & find
Turns out, players weren’t imagining things. There was a bug with the drop rates for rare gems like sapphires, making them nearly impossible to mine. Thankfully, the devs caught on and addressed it in a recent hotfix, so finding these shiny blue beauties should now be a lot more reasonable. But before you dust off that pickaxe, here is what the devs had to say and some other tips for you to help mine sapphires.
Devs response
According to the official patch notes for Hotfix 3 (0.7.1.4), the devs have fixed a sneaky issue where gem drop rates were unintentionally nerfed if you were too skilled at mining, especially after reloading into a world. So if you’re still not seeing those Sapphires drop, there’s a good chance you might be running an older version of the game. Double-check for updates and make sure you’ve got the latest hotfix installed!
Mining tips
There are a few important things you’ll need to do before they start showing up in your inventory. First and foremost, make sure you’ve selected Mining as your primary skill. Next, focus on leveling up your mining skill to at least level 16. This is the required threshold before the game begins to roll the dice on rare gem drops from specific ores. You’ll gain mining XP as you harvest different types of ore, so just keep digging and smelting until you hit that sweet spot. Once you’ve met the requirements, here is how the gem drop system works. There’s a specific pattern based on the type of ore you’re mining:
- Tin Ore gives you the best chance of finding Opals
- Iron Ore tends to yield Jades
- And finally, Gold Ore is your main source for Sapphires
So if you’re still hacking away at iron or tin, expecting to uncover sapphires, you’ll need to shift your focus to mining gold veins instead. And with that, your doubts on this matter should be cleared. That said, for all your other gaming-related queries, make sure to check DigiStatement first.
