Serving as the spiritual successor to 2014’s game of the same name, Lords of the Fallen is the latest game from the newly founded video game development studio, Hexworks. A subsidiary of Warsaw-based CI Games, this is Hexworks’ debut title, and so far, they have done a good job of developing it. But it’s not a perfect game. There are a myriad of issues that have infested the game and, as a result, led to many players complaining about it and demanding fixes. This guide in particular will be discussing the “crossplay not working” issue.
Well, there’s not really much to say when it comes to explaining this issue. As you might have guessed already, players are unable to play the game with their friends on a different system, despite the fact that LotF does support crossplay. Considering that one of the biggest highlights of Lords of the Fallen is its co-op feature, this is a disappointment. But is there a fix available? Continue reading to find out.
Lords of the Fallen (2023) Crossplay Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet
Fortunately, it seems like an official fix will be released soon. Since the majority of the player base is facing the same issue, the developers will surely release an update to fix it. As for when, we don’t know yet. However, the root cause behind this issue has been determined to be the difference between the PC, Xbox, and PS5 versions of the game. So until an official fix is released, you can try the following workarounds:
Wait for a while –
Well, this goes without saying, but waiting for a while might help if you are unable to invite players from other platforms in the game. As mentioned earlier, this issue is mainly due to the game version differences between platforms; only the developers can fix it. So, wait for an official update to be released.
Get the latest patch update–
If you are running LotF on Xbox or PC, you must make sure that the latest update from Hexworks has been installed. Now, the developers haven’t clarified if this patch also fixes the crossplay issues, but nevertheless, you should go and install the update. After installing the update, restart the PC or console, launch the game, and then check whether the issue persists.
Disable VPN –
If you happen to be using a VPN, we highly suggest you disable it for now. When using VPNs, it tends to slow down your internet, and hence issues like this can start happening. So, just disable your VPN when playing the game.
Invite players from suitable platforms –
At the moment, only players on Steam can crossplay with PS5 and Xbox players; however, PS5 and Xbox players cannot crossplay with each other. So, remember this before inviting your friends in the game.
Turn Crossplay On –
Although quite trivial, the in-game crossplay option might be disabled, which is why you are facing this issue. So, consider double-checking to be sure. First, head to the game’s Settings menu and select the Multiplayer tab. Now, ensure that the Allow Crossplay option is set to On.
