Lies of P: How to transfer in-game progression from Game Pass version to Steam

After a jaw-dropping gameplay reveal during Gamescom 2022, the excitement and hype around Lies of P were at an all-time high. And now that it has finally been released and available for all major platforms except for the Switch, of course, fans can at last enjoy what they’ve been waiting for so long to play. Recently, many in the community have been looking for a way to transfer their in-game progress from the GamePass version of the game to Steam, and so we decided to share a guide to help with that.

A major reason why transferring progress from GamePass to Steam is so hard is due to the fact that GamePass has a different way of saving your in-game progress than Steam/Epic Games. It saves in pieces rather than making one single save file. But this is something quite easy to deal with. And so, here’s a guide on how to do it.

As we said earlier, you can’t directly transfer your saves from the Game Pass version to Steam because both use a very different file format. But u/oki_dingo was able to transfer saves successfully, so it’s possible to do this. Follow the given steps:

  • First, download and install the HxD Hex Editor.
  • After the installation is complete, head to the following directory: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Neowiz.3616725F496B_r4z3116tdh636\SystemAppData\wgs\ [uniquenumberhere]00000000000000000000000000007B71E406
  • Now, copy everything inside this folder. There will be various files here. Some sized 14kb, others 550kb, and even 1kb.
  • After this, it’s time to find the Steam saves folder. However, before that, disable cloud saves for Lies of P via the Steam client. Now, head to the following path: C:\<Game-Path-here>\LiesofP\Saved\SaveGames\[userid]. To know where the saved files of the Steam version of Lies of P are located, click here.
  • Now, paste the copied contents into this directory. After this, open the 14kb or similar-sized file in the hex editor and save it as Account_1. Open the other 14-kb or so-sized file and name it Account_2.
  • Close the editor and launch the game.

It’s a lengthy process, but this is the only way currently. There’s the XGP-save-extractor that can be used for the same purpose, but at the time of publishing this guide, only certain games like Starfield, High on Life, Final Fantasy XV, and such are supported. Although a user did ask for Lies of P support in the Issues section of the GitHub page, an update on official support is yet to be received. Well, until then, the aforementioned steps are the only way to transfer in-game progress from the Gamepass version of Lies to P to Steam.

Well, that’s all you need to know about when it comes to transferring in-game progression from the game’s GamePass version to Steam. Well, if you’re looking to acquire some new weapons or replace your current ones in the game, take a look at this guide. If you found this guide informative, keep checking out DigiStatement.
