Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3) How to change customize Dice Skin

If you have decided to dive into Baldur’s Gate 3, chances are that you already know about dungeons and dragons and some core concepts regarding this tabletop game. If this is a new piece of information to you, well, then this article becomes all the more important for you to read. So, just like in other tabletop games, where a dice roll determines the outcome of the situation, in Baldur’s Gate 3, dice rolling encourages roleplaying and immersion. Players get to step into the shoes of their characters and experience the highs and lows of their adventures. A lucky roll can lead to triumphant moments, while a series of unfortunate rolls can create challenges that characters must overcome. With that out of the way, in this guide, we will take a look at the customization aspect of the dice. It seems that a lot of players are looking to change the dice skin in Baldur’s Gate 3. But is it even possible? If yes, how can you do it? Well, keep reading for all the answers.

If you did not know, in BG3, the dice roll system is based on the 5th edition ruleset of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D). It uses virtual dice rolls to determine the outcomes of actions, combat, skill checks, saving throws, and other events within the game. The main type of die used in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the 20-sided die, commonly known as the d20. When you attempt an action or face a situation with an uncertain outcome, the game generates a random virtual d20 roll for you. The result is then modified by various factors, such as your character’s abilities, skills, equipment, and the difficulty of the task. So, now that you know how important the die is in BG3, it is quite obvious that you may want to customize it according to your liking. Well, fortunately, that is indeed possible.

Let us look at how to change your dice skin in the game. Now, it’s a feature that might have slipped under your radar, just like it did for a lot of other players, even after sinking hours into the game. That being said, here’s the deal: whenever you come across a lock that needs picking or you’re prompted to roll the dice for any action, keep an eye on the bottom of the screen. You’ll spot a “Customize” option right there. It is that purple hexagonal button that appears at the bottom left of the screen. All you have to do is go ahead and click on it, and guess what? A small window pops up, showing you your collection of all the available dice skins. This brings us to the next part: the dice skins available in the game and how to get more of these skins.

Dice skins

The Scuffed Metal Dice skin is the default option available to all players. Those who have acquired the Collector’s Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition of BG3 will also gain access to the Dragonflame Red Die Design. And that seems to be it. As of writing this article, there aren’t any significant dice skins for you to unlock and try in the game. These skins aren’t available in the in-game world, and there is no way to get more. However, with the help of mods, you can always expand your dice skin collection.

Well, that is all the information we have on customizing dice skins in Baldur’s Gate 3.
