FromSoftware’s Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has breathed new life into the age-old dormant series. So much so that AC6 is the highest-rated game in the entire Armored Core series. And with FromSoftware now being a studio of such legendary status, the sales are bound to match the high praise it’s been getting from both fans and critics. Armored Core 6 is going to be the start for many players who want to get into the series as a whole. As such, gathering knowledge about every possible thing in the game is a must for many. Just take how to respec or how to heal in AC6 as an example. And so, this guide will help you learn how to secure the S rank in various missions of the game.
Mission ranks are the game’s way of evaluating your skills and abilities. Most of the time, these don’t really matter much, but if you keep getting low ranks in your missions, eventually, you will wish to see an S rank at least once. Plus, if you happen to be one of those completionists, then you will be looking to get more. So, here’s a guide that will help you get the S rank in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon.
Armored Core 6 (AC6) Fires of Rubicon S Rank: How to get it
Getting an S rank in Armored Core 6 is no easy task. But once you read this guide, you will be heading in the right direction. Now, achieving the S rank is entirely dependent on the mission context. But usually, certain aspects will be common to all the mission completion prerequisites. Even the game gives you a hint at what those things are. Well, here are the prerequisites for getting an S rank in the game:
Ammo consumption
This one might seem important, but compared to others, it’s not that crucial. Referred to as “Ammunition Costs” in the result screen, it essentially measures the cost of shots that were fired in a mission. Each weapon in the game has an ammunition cost, which can be checked by opening the Assembly Menu and then doing the same with the Arm or Back menu. Press the Toggle Display button, and you will be able to view the Ammunition Cost of weapons.
The only exception to this prerequisite is melee weapons, since those don’t consume ammo. However, these in turn are limited by their cooldown, which can prove a major hindrance to you getting the S rank. So, prefer weapons with a fast kill speed for the best results.
Completion Time
The reason we told you earlier to pay less heed to the previous prerequisite was because of this one. The speed at which you finish a particular mission is more important than how much ammo you consume. Put simply, it’s one of the most important requirements when it comes to getting an S rank.
If you want to ensure that you get an S rank in a particular mission, then we suggest you ignore unimportant enemies and set your sights on completing mission objectives only. The payout might be less, but you will at least be able to get one step closer to securing a S rank for yourself.
No checkpoint uses
If completion time is an important requirement, then this one is even more important. If you use checkpoints even once, then it will automatically make you ineligible for the S rank rating. That’s why you must finish a mission with only one life. However, there are no penalties when it comes to restarting the mission.
Damage Taken by AC
Like Ammo Consumption, Damage Taken is referred to by a different name in the result screen, i.e., Repair Costs. However, the similarities don’t end there. Just like Ammo Consumption, this one doesn’t possess that much importance compared to the previous two. But this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t put any focus on it. Put simply, your goal should be to finish the mission as fast as possible while also taking less damage. This will lessen your repair costs, and your path to getting an S rank will be just around the corner.
Mission Specific Objectives
While the previous four parameters are more or less common in every mission, this one in particular is mission-specific. In other words, certain missions in the game have objectives that you will need to satisfy besides the common four. Many times, it would be killing certain enemies, but the objectives are not exclusive to this. All in all, take a good look at the mission screen and do your best to fulfill the mission objectives.
And lastly, if you are unable to get the S rank in a mission, try it again and modify your approach to get better results. Eventually, you will get what you want after enough tries.
