HarmonyOS 2.0 to be rolled out by Huawei in Mate 40, P40 and Mate 30 devices

As far as taking complete ownership is considered, Huawei has stood tall in recent times. A few months ago they filed trademarks for their MateDisplay. A unique move that took advantage of the common, everywhere spotted AMOLEDs. But that wasn’t really the first of their claims. Huawei launched its very own dear OS which for a change was not based on the usual Linux platform. That was almost a year ago. Harmony OS has since been at the center of Huawei devices and can be found as Open Source. Huawei weren’t one to accept Google’s global domination, leading to the birth of their in-house Harmony OS. In September, at Huawei Develop Conference the brand announced the arrival of the successor to their native OS. Brace yourselves for the Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0.

First devices in line to receive HarmonyOS 2.0

For a company ranked lower only to Apple and Samsung in global Mobile Vendor Market Share, Huawei have done justice to their customer base. To build an OS with dedicated cross-platform support was not an easy thing to start with. A version 2.0 only means Huawei knows exactly what they are up to. As of today, HarmonyOS is available across 20 product categories. This  number is bound to spike when HarmonyOS 2.0 is out. A poster on Weibo revealed the devices that would be the first to feature the new OS. Quite naturally, the list is topped by Huawei Mate 40 series phones and a few Huawei Mate 30 models. The Mate 40s have been facing a lag in launch due to the ongoing US-China disturbances.

There are reports suggesting Huawei’s plans to roll out HarmonyOS 2.0 as soon as possible. The early release would be targeted at app developers. Additionally, the beta version will see to it that HarmonyOS 2.0 fairs well with smartwatches and car systems. Huawei recently confirmed that devices with EMUI 11 would be eligible to install Harmony OS 2.0. A late arrival could also be expected on devices running Kirin 710 and Kirin 810.  However, this will take its own course, and a lengthy one for that matter. For now, we are eyeing Huawei’s launch of Mate 40s powered by Kirin 9000 chips.
