Fix: Star Ocean The Divine Force Low FPS and Stuttering issues

1) Recompile Shaders

Recompiling Shader has resolved this issue then and there for a lot of players. To do it, follow these steps:

  1. Launch the game and select System on the main menu.
  2. Select Graphics.
  3. Set Pre-compiled Shaders to ON

2) Install Latest Graphics Drivers

Make sure to install the latest graphics drivers for your respective graphics card. If you have an NVIDIA Graphics Card, head here. And if you have an AMD card, head here. After installing graphics drivers, you must ensure that the “Pre-Compiled Shaders” is turned on in the game’s settings. (See the above-mentioned method)

3) Roll back Graphics drivers

To roll back the graphics drivers, you must follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the start menu and select Device Manager.
  2. Select Display Adapter.
  3. Right-click on your Graphics Card and select Properties.
  4. Under Driver Tab, select “Roll Back Driver”.

If an option is not selectable, then you can skip this step. Nvidia users can also head to Nvidia’s official website and select an older version they want to install, and the same can be done for AMD GPU as well. However, don’t forget to recompile shaders again after this step.

4) Update Game

If any update is pending, make sure to update the game. You can go to Steam and check if any update is pending or not.

5) Run the game on Dedicated Graphics Card

  1. Open the Windows Search bar and search Graphics Settings
  2. After opening it, click on Browse.
  3. Head to the game installation folder and select the game’s executable file. Select Add from the bottom.
  4. Click on the game’s name from the list, select Options, and check “High Performance” from here.
  5. You can also make sure that the game is running on the Dedicated GPU by heading to Nvidia Control Panel and selecting the High-Performance Nvidia Processor option for Preferred Graphics Processor under Global Settings.

6) Run the game as an administrator

Right-click on the game’s launcher and select “Run as administrator”. After this, launch the game.

7) Try Windowed mode and lower the graphics

If you have an old or low-end PC, then you must try the Windowed mode. To apply it, go to the game’s main menu, select the ‘System‘ option, select ‘Screen’, and turn off the Full-Screen mode. Also, lower the screen resolution to see if it boosts your FPS. To lower the graphics, select the Graphics section and set the Quality Preset to Low. Also, make sure Vsync is disabled.

8) Update Windows

Ensure that your Windows is updated to the latest version. If not, then head to the Windows & Security section in the Windows Settings and select the Check for Update option.

9) Verify the game files

Launch Steam, right-click on “STAR OCEAN THE DIVINE FORCE” and select Properties. Here, select the “Local Files” category and click on “Verify Integrity of Game Files”.

10) Disable overlay and overclocking apps

You must disable all the apps that show a floating overlay on the screen(Like Steam Overlay, Discord, etc.). Also, make sure there is no unnecessary task running in the background. You can close background running apps via the Task Manager.

11) Unplug all devices that are not in use

If you have attached several devices that are not in use, then you must unplug them from your PC. Keep only the primary input devices plugged in and then launch the game.

So, these were some fixes for the Low FPS and Stuttering issues of Star Ocean The Divine Force. We hope that you found this article helpful.
