A while ago, we saw a new feature tagged Paper Mode in the latest MIUI 12 Beta. As we know, Xiaomi‘s latest iteration of custom OS is still under development. That being said, new features keep rolling out with every new beta release for MIUI 12. That’s exactly what happened again. So, a guy has spotted some new lines of code in the latest beta firmware. These codes hint at a new AI Shutter feature for MIUI Camera that Xiaomi is apparently working on.
So, what is this new feature all about? Back when MIUI 12 was introduced, we also saw a complete UI change in the MIUI Camera app. On top of that, the MIUI Camera app also got some new features and gestures support as well. Now, there’s this new AI Shutter feature which might very soon be seen in the stock MIUI camera app.
What this feature basically does is suggests the best click from a series of pictures based on AI algorithms. You simply hold the shutter button for a while and the camera automatically does the rest to give you the best shot of all as the end result. Sounds interesting, right.

It’s a good thing Xiaomi is going to bring something like that to its stock camera app. However, the feature is not yet active as of now. Just as with the case of the new Paper Mode. It’s very likely that Xiaomi will soon enable these new features from their end with the next updates. However, we don’t have any concrete information as of now regarding this. Let’s see what pops up next in the coming days.
MIUI 12 is by far one of the biggest upgrades in the history of MIUI. Not only do we get to see a complete UI design overhaul, new animations, and icons but we also see some of the best features in a smartphone. Xiaomi’s not done yet. The brand continues to bring more features to its latest iteration of custom OS. We might very soon be seeing a full-fledged version of MIUI 12 in the coming months.
