Waiting for the round to start can be tedious, especially when you are losing. However, sprays and gun inspections give you that distraction from your 0/10/2 teammate before the round starts to ensure minimum tilt watching them play. Riot Games’ new feature, the spray wheel, increases your accessibility to make sure your bottom fragger knows what you’re feeling as they add on to your 10-game loss streak! The new spray wheel gives you access to more spraying and design ambitions while you wait for the inevitable loss in your ranked matches. But how can you use this feature? The use of a wheel format to toggle between expressive items in games is not uncommon. The emote wheel in Fortnite might be the first thing to cross your mind when you think of it. That aside, sprays are a big part of games like CS and Valorant. The cool spray you own might be what is needed to separate you from the opponent’s Reyna. Or perhaps you are an excellent Jett main and you want to drive the point home with the Jett laughing spray after a 1v3 clutch. The point is, sprays were already a big part of the game, and to add to the personal flair, we have this spray wheel system.
Valorant: How to use Spray Wheel
The spray wheel might be new to the game, but that does not mean you will not have to allocate the sprays you want to use in a match. Not to mention that you will have to do this before you hop into a match. Even with the new spray wheel, it is the same process: head to the Collections tab, and there you will see the Spray Wheel. Select each slot and choose the sprays for each from your collection. Notice how there is one extra slot now. Previously, the game offered 3 slots with 1 spray available before the round, after the round, and during the round. With four slots, you will have the choice between two sprays during a round. Coming back to how to use the wheel, it’s simple; you have to press the same key that you have been using previously to spray the decals. By default, it is the “T” key.
Now, with the sprays allocated to each slot of the wheel, all you have to do is press and hold T, and the wheel will pop up. Using your mouse, you can hover over the spray you want in order to use it. Does this mean you will have to hold the spray key each time? Well, no! Pressing the spray key once will make sure that the spray on the top of the wheel is used. And if you are one of those spray spammers, audio cues have been implemented to mark the cooldown period.
While this spray wheel was not the most requested feature by the community, it is still a welcome one. And it is likely going to encourage a lot of players to use their in-game sprays. With new sprays in each new battle pass and skin bundle, one can see why this feature may be a game changer for all those players who like to express themselves and annoy opponents.
