The Texas Chain Saw Massacre saw its official release on August 18, 2023, and fans of the asymmetrical horror survival genre are excited. TCM could dethrone Dead by Daylight, which has been the go-to game for fans of this genre for a long time. But for that to happen, the game developers will need to fix various issues that the players are encountering. And eliminating the unable to progress issue that makes players stuck at level 13 could be a great start for the developer, Sumo Digital.
Newly released games suffering from numerous issues are a tale as old as time. Madden NFL 24, which just launched on the same day as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is already going through problems like “Game failed to launch error” and “Secure Boot is not Enabled” issues, just to name a few. However, these issues had a few workarounds for them, so let’s see if the same is true for this particular issue in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (TCM) Unable to Progress/Stuck at Level 13 Issue: Is there any fix yet
As of now, players are yet to get an official fix from the developers regarding this issue. However, the good news is that the developers are aware of this, and they have stated that it is currently under investigation. So, an official fix will be released soon, hopefully. But, until that becomes available, you can try the following workarounds:
Restart the game –
First and foremost, we recommend that you restart the game. Some affected players were able to fix this issue by restarting TCM, so give it a try. See if it resolves the issue. If not, then you can go ahead and try the next method.
Verify file integrity –
If the game happens to be missing files, you will be facing issues left and right. Fortunately, Steam has a neat little feature to help curb that problem. You just have to open the storefront and then click on Library. Next, right-click on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and then select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
Ensure that you are in the public lobby –
In The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, players will only earn XP if they are in the public lobby. Private lobby players can’t get any XP from matches. So, if you have been playing private matches so far, that is more likely the reason why you are stuck at level 13 and do not earn any XP.
Finish a match and then restart the game –
There’s a bug in the game that currently makes it so that you can’t get XP or SP unless you restart it completely. So, until an official fix is released for the bug, all you can do is finish a match and then close the game. Next, boot up the game and play another match. Keep repeating the same cycle if you want to level up.
Keep spectating until the whole match is over –
This is also related to another bug in the game. If you get killed and leave the ongoing match, you will not receive any XP or SP. So, what you need to do is spectate the entire match until it’s over. Do so, and you will earn XP after the match is over.
Check server status –
Sometimes, due to server issues, the game might be unable to register your progress. That’s why it’s better to check the game’s server status frequently. Additionally, we also recommend checking your internet connection and using Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi while playing.
That said, the provided workarounds should be enough to fix this issue in the game. If you find this guide informative, follow DigiStatement for more. Also, read: The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (TCM) Voice Chat & Text Chat Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet
