The Talos Principle 2 (TTP2) HDR Not Working Bug Is there any fix yet

The Talos Principle 2 (TTP2) is making waves in the gaming community, offering players a thought-provoking first-person puzzle experience. However, as with any complex game, issues can arise. One prominent concern is the High Dynamic Range (HDR) bug, which has left players puzzled and seeking solutions. So, if you are dealing with the same, continue reading to learn more about the issue.

The HDR bug in TTP2 has raised eyebrows among players who expect an immersive and visually stunning experience. High Dynamic Range is a feature that enhances the contrast and colors in games, providing a more realistic and vibrant visual presentation. However, some players have been disappointed to find that the HDR feature isn’t working as intended, leaving the game stuck in Standard Dynamic Range (SDR). But why does this happen? And most importantly, is there a fix available? Continue reading to find out.

Developer response

According to one of the developers of TTP2, the HDR bug is more than just a minor glitch. It’s not just a case of HDR being executed poorly; it’s completely inactive. The game mistakenly believes it’s in HDR mode and is rendering with the wrong gamma curve, further complicating the situation. This issue has been recognized by the developer, who is actively working to resolve it. In response to the bug, the game’s developer commented, “It’s broken, not terrible. Terrible means it works but badly executed”. This statement underscores the developer’s commitment to delivering a great HDR experience. The fact that they have acknowledged the problem and are working on a fix is reassuring to players who were looking forward to experiencing TTP2 in all its visual glory.

Well, as per the most recent response from the developer, they stated that they have managed to fix the issue. But, to their dismay, some players have reported that the issue still persists. If that’s the case for you as well, try the workaround mentioned below.

Workaround

The HDR bug in TTP2 appears to be related to having a secondary screen connected to your system. For players who don’t have a second screen, this can be frustrating. However, a workaround exists that could help you enjoy the game in HDR. This involves either plugging in a secondary screen, whether it supports HDR or not, or using a virtual secondary screen. Software solutions like Spacedesk can help mirror your game to mobile devices, effectively acting as a second screen. While this workaround may not be ideal, it does allow players to experience TTP2 with HDR enabled. One player suggested using IDD (Indirect Display Drivers) as an option for those who do not have a secondary screen.

It’s important to stay tuned for official updates from the developers regarding a permanent fix for the HDR bug in The Talos Principle 2. Since they are actively working on it, a solution may be on the horizon. In the meantime, continue to enjoy the philosophical and mind-bending challenges that TTP2 has to offer. That being said, stay tuned to DigiStatement for further updates and more gaming reads like this.
