Samar Studio’s The Front saw its official release as an early access title on October 11, 2023. Since then, the game has enjoyed a steady stream of new and curious players. While the game is certainly better after receiving some much-needed updates, it’s still nowhere near a state where players can enjoy it to its fullest. One of the major issues that continues to annoy players is the “unable to change resolution or full screen not working” issue. So, we have featured this guide sharing all the details on whether there is a fix for this issue yet.
Well, the problem is, as you might have thought. For some reason, many players can’t seem to change their in-game resolution despite trying numerous times. This is kind of a bummer since changing resolutions has a substantial effect on both the game’s performance and visuals. Some even reported that they couldn’t play the game in full-screen mode. So, how to fix this? Continue reading for more details.
The Front Unable to Change Resolution/Full Screen Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet
Samar Studio hasn’t really acknowledged this issue, so until they do and release an official fix, you will have to make do with the following potential workarounds. Try not to skip any unless you have already tried them.
Switch to Windowed Mode –
First, what you need to do is switch to windowed mode by pressing Alt + Enter on your keyboard. And now, you will be able to change the resolution as per your preferences. Don’t forget to click on Apply once you have selected your desired resolution.
Edit the config file –
Editing the config file is usually one of the most common ways to mess around with or tweak a game’s settings. The same applies here too. So, to do that, first head to the following location: C:/Users/(username)/AppData/Local/ProjectWar/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/GameUserSettings. Now, open the GameUserSettings.ini file using a text editor. Scroll down and look out for the FullscreenMode line. Type in 2 next to it so that it resembles something like this: “FullscreenMode = 2“. Save the recently edited file, and then right-click on it to select Properties. Down below, checkmark the Read-only option. Click Apply and OK to finish the process. Start the game, and you will find that the game is now in Windowed mode. Now, all that’s left to do is change your resolution and apply the settings.
Give admin access –
Players can also try giving admin access to the game if they haven’t done this already. To start, just right-click on either the game’s .exe file or on the shortcut, and then select Properties > Compatibility. Now, checkmark the “Run this program as an administrator” option. End the process by clicking Apply and OK.
Run in compatibility mode –
Running the game in compatibility mode is another fix that you can try. The process is quite simple, too. Just follow the previous workaround steps until you are in the Compatibility tab. Now, checkmark the “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” option and select Windows 8 from the drop-down menu. Click on Apply and OK, and then start the game. You can also select Windows 7 and then check if the issue persists.
Reinstall –
In case the issue persists, we suggest you perform a reinstall of the entire game. Make sure that you have enough storage and connection speed to download The Front once again. Now, just delete or uninstall the game, put it on a new download, and once it’s installed, launch it.
Well, that’s what we’ve got on this topic for now. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only issue that’s been troubling players. We have seen reports of players complaining about experiencing extreme blurriness in the game, and fortunately, we do have a guide on that too.
