Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield is one of the most popular games of 2023. This latest action/RPG title came out on September 6, 2023, for PC and Xbox Series X/S. Starfield is one of the finest space-themed RPG titles to have come out in 2023, and the fans have loved it ever since its release. So when you’re completing the Surgical Strike quest, you’ll be prompted to follow the NPC named Ben Armistead after having a conversation with him. However, as shared by different players, even after completing the chat with Ben, he doesn’t move from his chair and keeps sitting still. This means players cannot follow him or complete the quest. Starfield Surgical Strike Quest Bug: How to Fix?

 Surgical Strike quest bug

If you’ve been facing this bug in Starfield, you’d be glad to know that it is indeed fixable. Below, you can find all the different workarounds that you can try to solve this problem in the game.

Restart game and your device

So, the first thing you ought to try if you’re facing this bug in the game is to restart it and check if the problem is solved. If restarting the game doesn’t work, then you may need to restart your device altogether. Once your device reboots, open the game and see if the problem persists.

Complete all dialogue options

In order for Ben Armistead to stand up and start moving, you need to complete the entire dialogue sequence. So if you’re facing the bug, you need to try and complete all the dialogue options first. Once done, check if it fixes the issue.

Use console commands

You can always use console commands to fix the bug during the “Follow Ben Armistead” task. Simply open the console command box by pressing the “tilde” (~) key on your keyboard. Then, type “player.setstage 1f0266 1000” without the quotes and hit enter. This will activate the quest marker, and you’ll be able to complete the tasks even if Ben Armistead doesn’t get up. Do note that using console commands will disable achievements in the game.

Visit Dr. Cassidy’s office

You can also try collecting the VIP keycard that leads to the VIP Wing to fix the problem and move forward in the quest. You can find the keycard stored in a safe inside Dr. Cassidy’s office in the staff area. After getting the keycard, visit the VIP Wing and pick up the letter URGENT: READ IMMEDIATELY” on a table next to the food tray. Doing so should let you progress further.

Load a previous save

If the bug is triggered because you did something wrong during the quest, you can always try and reload a previous save to counter this issue. Hopefully, this should fix the bug for you, and you’ll be able to enjoy the game peacefully.
