Starfield may be the next big space-themed RPG from Bethesda, but it is far from perfection, especially right now during its Early Access phase. Why do we say that? Well, there are a number of bugs and errors that have been irritating the players, and in this article, we will be talking about one such bug, the Incoming Weather Status Effect Bug. So, if you are encountering the same problem, keep reading to know if there is a fix for this issue.
In Starfield, some players have encountered a persistent bug that causes the incoming weather status effect to be active indefinitely. Due to this, weather status effects like hazardous and extreme are always active, making exploration on various planets a huge challenge. A lot of players are troubled by it and are looking for a fix. But is a fix available? Let’s find out.
Starfield Incoming Weather Status Effect Bug: Is there any fix yet
Well, there is no official fix yet, but that is not the end. While there is no sure-shot fix, there are a few workarounds you can try that have worked for other players facing the same bug. Of course, they are not guaranteed fixes, but they are still worth a try.
Restart the Game
One of the first things to attempt is restarting the game. This involves saving your progress, exiting Starfield entirely, then launching the game again and loading the latest save. Sometimes, this simple step can resolve the problem. If you want to go the extra mile, restart your PC or console.
Load a Previous Save
If restarting doesn’t work, loading a previous save where you didn’t have this annoying bug might help. Of course, this means you might have to replay some content depending on how frequently you save or how old the save was before the bug appeared.
Continue progressing
You might also get rid of this bug if you continue progressing and complete a mainline quest. After doing so, the status effect might get reset, so make sure to try this workaround as well.
Use Console Command (PC Players Only)
If you are playing the game on PC, well, you are in for good luck because, for PC players, there’s a workaround involving console commands. Now, if that sounds overwhelming and fancy, do not worry; we are here to simplify things for you. Just follow the steps given below:
- Press the tilde key (~) on your keyboard to open the console command interface. If you are not sure about the console key, it is the one between the Esc and the Tab keys on the right top corner of your keyboard.
- In the console command, type “player.dispel 281ed2” (without the quotes) and press Enter. This command should remove the incoming weather status effect.
- Also, if you want to remove all status effects, you can enter the following command: “player.dispelallspells”. However, do note that using console commands disables achievements in the game.
Note: You will have to be on foot while entering this command for it to work. So, if you are flying a ship or doing some other activity, you might have to finish that first, land somewhere on solid ground, and then enter the command.
While the console command workaround seems to work for the majority of PC players, Xbox players don’t have access to it. In this case, if you are on Xbox, you might need to wait for Bethesda, the game’s developer, to release a patch or hotfix to address the issue. Bethesda is known for supporting its games post-launch with updates, so we are hopeful they will eventually fix this bug.
Replace it with a different warning
A player on Reddit mentioned that visiting Mars, where a sandstorm was active, led to the previous status effect getting replaced with the new one. And, of course, the new warning didn’t get stuck, unlike the previous one. So, what you need to do is head into a different hostile area to receive a new status effect warning to get rid of this bug.
How to avoid this bug?
Well, another player on Reddit mentioned that if you fast-travel while the status effect is active, this bug occurs. So, what you need to do is manually head into your ship, and avoid fast traveling. Once the status effect is gone, you can fast-travel all you want.
And that is all the information we have on this bug. We hope all your doubts have been cleared. For more guides on gaming-related queries, make sure to stay tuned to DigiStatement. And while you’re reading this, here is another guide on how to respec your character in Starfield.
