RuneScape Dragonwilds Unable to play Multiplayer Issue Is there any fix yet (2)

Running into trouble trying to team up with friends in RuneScape: Dragonwilds? You’re not alone. Several players have reported issues with multiplayer in the game not working as expected. That said, if you’re wondering whether there’s a fix or workaround yet, we’ve got you covered. Here’s what we know so far and what you can try to (hopefully) get back to adventuring with your crew.

Players trying to access multiplayer are running into a roadblock where both the “FRIENDS” and “PUBLIC” tabs in the Play menu display an “EOS required” message, directing them to the settings. Even more confusion arises when attempting to create a new world; all options except “Solo” are completely greyed out, making it impossible to host or join multiplayer sessions. So, if you are encountering the same, continue reading for workarounds to fix it.

RuneScape Dragonwilds Unable to play Multiplayer Issue Is there any fix yet

While the devs have been actively rolling out hotfixes to smooth out early bugs in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, this specific multiplayer issue with the “EOS required” message and greyed-out world options hasn’t been officially addressed yet. As we wait for a confirmed fix from the devs, there are a few potential workarounds that might help get you back online.

Update EOS Settings

One commonly suggested workaround involves heading into the game’s Settings menu, then navigating to Legal → Update EOS Settings.  After updating the EOS settings, restart the game and check if the multiplayer options—like “FRIENDS” and “PUBLIC”—are now accessible. It doesn’t always work for everyone, but it is worth a shot.

Reinstall EOS

Another solution is to uninstall the EOS (Epic Online Services) service completely via Control Panel → Programs, and then manually reinstall it. You can download the latest version of the EOS service directly from the official Epic Games website. Once reinstalled, launch RuneScape: Dragonwilds again, and the multiplayer options should now be available.

Restart and Administrator permissions

Sometimes, a simple restart is all it takes to clear background conflicts or stuck services. After restarting, make sure to run both the game and any associated launchers (like Steam or Epic Games Launcher) with administrator privileges. This gives the applications the necessary permissions to interact properly with system services like EOS, which are essential for multiplayer features.

Internet Connection and VPN

Multiplayer connectivity relies heavily on a stable internet connection. Try restarting your router, or better yet, use a wired Ethernet connection for improved stability and speed. If you’re on Wi-Fi, ensure you’re close to the router or using a strong signal booster to prevent drops. In some cases, your region or ISP might be causing communication issues with EOS servers. Using a VPN can help bypass region-based restrictions or routing problems, allowing you to connect to the servers successfully

Verify Game Files and Check for Updates

Corrupted or missing files can break the game’s ability to access certain features. In your Steam client, right-click on the game, select Properties> Installed Files and then the “Verify Integrity of Game Files” option (available in both Steam and Epic). This will scan for and repair any damaged files. Also, make sure the game is fully updated.

Reinstall the Game

If nothing else works, a clean reinstall may be the best option. Uninstall RuneScape: Dragonwilds, delete any leftover folders in the install directory, and reinstall it from scratch. This can eliminate lingering file corruption, misconfigurations, or outdated assets that might be interfering with multiplayer functionality.

And those are all the workarounds we have for now for the multiplayer issue in RuneScape Dragonwilds. We hope this was helpful.
