Enjoying the latest The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered? Well, initial reception of the game seems to be on the positive side with many commending the visuals and overhaul of Cyrodiil but there are some who still prefer the original game over this remaster. Anyway, healthy banter aside, the remaster is indeed very good, although some bugs do persists in the game. Coming to bugs, the unable to change resolution bug has been troubling many since the game made its debut. If you too are encountering the same, consider reading this guide for workarounds to fix it for good.
We came to know about this bug from recent player reports, which suggested that many are unable to change the in-game resolution to their desired values. Some are stuck with choosing resolutions that go as high as 1080p. While lower resolutions can be applied, all options post 1080p just don’t appear. Players having monitors that support up to 5120×1440 resolutions are unable to select the same in-game. So, this clearly is a bug that needs to be fixed.

The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered Unable to Change Resolution Issue: Is there any fix yet
As of now, there is no official fix for this issue, and that’s quite understandable given the game was just released. However, we have the ultimate workaround for you to try. This workaround involves editing the game’s .ini file. If you don’t know where to look for it or what changes to make, don’t worry. We have shared a step-by-step guide for the same:
- First, open File Explorer on your PC by pressing Win+E. After this, go to the C drive.
- Now, open the Users folder and then the folder with your username as its name. Once opened, find the Documents folder.
- Inside this folder, open the My Games folder.
- Next, open the following folders: Oblivion Remastered>Saved>Config>Windows
- Inside the Windows folder, select the GameUserSettings.ini file and then open it using Notepad.
- Next, find the following parameters and enter the desired resolution values as shared:
- DesiredScreenWidth=2560
DesiredScreenHeight=1440
LastUserConfirmedDesiredScreenWidth=2560
LastUserConfirmedDesiredScreenHeight=1440
- DesiredScreenWidth=2560
- You can change the values as per your monitor’s resolution for optimal gameplay.
- Once the changes are made, save the file and then exit.
- Now, launch the game and then go to the in-game Settings menu to check whether the resolution is correct.
That’s all you need to do if you are unable to change the in-game resolution in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. If you find this guide informative, consider visiting DigiStatement for more such interesting guides on all things gaming.
