Looking to channel your inner elven archer in RuneScape Dragonwilds? The Crystal Bow is a sleek, magical weapon that feels as powerful as it seems—and trust us, it’s not just for show. Whether you’re raining arrows from a distance or want to flex with some serious style, this bow is a must-have. But the question is: how to unlock the bow?
Like many powerful items in RuneScape, the Crystal Bow isn’t something you can get right off the bat. You’ll need to make some progress in the game before it becomes available. Specifically, you’ll have to complete the quest Heartstrings. Once you finish it, you’ll be able to get your hands on the Crystal Bow and start using it in combat. Well, we are here to break down how you can get your hands on it.
RuneScape Dragonwilds Crystal Bow: How to get, find, & craft
The Crystal Bow is a tier 3 Masterwork ranged weapon in the game with high performance, a Power Level of 3 and 3.45x Arrow Damage. It also features a unique Scattershot special action, ideal for crowd control, and boasts a solid durability of 1050, allowing for extended use in combat before needing repairs. That said, you will receive a Crystal Bow after completing the “Heartstrings” questline. The reward you get at the end: the bow, along with the recipe to craft it! So, let’s first get over completing the quest and then we can switch our focus to crafting the recipe for more bows!
Heartstrings Quest
First of all, you will have to unlock the Windstep Spell. To do this, you need Runecrafting Skill Level 8. Make sure to unlock this spell, as you will have to cast the Windstep Spell during the quest to reach high platforms during the quest. With that out of the way, it is time to start the Heartstrings quest! To do this, go to Fractured Plains, entering from the Whispering Swamp. From the entrance:
- Turn left and go up the hill.
- You’ll see a wooden structure on your right.
- Use the Windstep Spell to jump up to it. Use Windstep two more times to get to the top of the cliff.
- Near a pond and a tin ore deposit, find a horizontal wooden beam.
- Use Windstep again to jump onto the beam, then once more to reach the top.
- You’ll see a large Anima Tree and a blue glowing gravestone. (This is also the first memorial. More such memorials need to be interacted with later on to complete the quest).
- Interact with it to start the Heartstrings quest.
Finding other Memorials
You’ve already found the first one by the cliff near the Anima tree. Now, here is where you can find the remaining six:
- From the first, head east. Use Windstep to safely descend the cliff. The second Memoria can be found at an Anima tree, in front of a ruined building on a small cliff.
- Go directly east from the second memorial, and you can find the third one by the roots of an Anima tree on a small cliff’s edge
- From the third memorial, go slightly southeast. Find the next Anima tree by a ruined tower. Explore around the tree, and you should be able to find the fourth memorial.
- Continue southeast from this location and you will come across sme ruings. The fifth memorial can be found among ruins, near an, you guess it: Anima tree. Also, watch out for Garou enemies.
- Next up, you will need to head north off the path to the right, up a hill, and you should be able to spot another Anima tree. Reach, explore, and collect the sixth memorial.
- Finally, for the seventh and the last memorial, keep heading north and cross a fallen tree over a gorge. Then, immediately turn left at the cliff’s edge. Just by an Anima tree is the final memorial.
Here are the exact locations of the memorials:
Interacting with the seventh and last memorial completes the Heartstrings quest. You will then be rewarded with the Crystal Bow and Crystal Bow crafting plans. With the bow in your inventory, it is time to learn the crafting process so that you can make more of these later if you ever need them.
How to craft the Crystal Bow?
With the recipe at hand, you will need to collect a few different materials and get access to an anvil to craft the Crystal Bow. Here are all the details, starting with the raw materials needed to craft one.
Raw Materials
- Opal 18x
- Wool Thread 4x
- Bronze Bar 4x
- Anima-Infused Bark 4x
- Vault Shard 8x
- Vault Core 1x
Opal can be obtained by mining tin or copper deposits after unlocking the Gem Prospector perk at Mining level 16, or as a drop from Rocksplosion. Wool Thread is crafted at a Spinning Wheel using either 3 Soft Animal Fur or 1 Fleece, both commonly found from animal-type enemies. Bronze Bars are smelted at a Furnace using Copper and Tin Ore, both of which are abundant in starter mining zones. You can also check our guide to smelting bronze bars here. Anima-Infused Bark is found on the ground near large Anima Trees throughout the Fractured Plains biome, especially where Memorials are located. Lastly, Vault Shards and Vault Cores are rarer materials that drop from specific enemies or can be found inside Vault chests, which are often hidden or locked behind puzzles or tougher encounters.
Crafting the bow
Finally, to craft the Crystal Bow, head to your Smithing Anvil, open up the Masterwork section, select the Crystal Bow from the list, make sure you have all required materials in your inventory and then craft the weapon. If you haven’t unlocked the Smithing Anvil yet, you’ll need to craft one first by unlocking its recipe (earned by smelting a Bronze Bar for the first time at a Furnace), then build it using 6 Bronze Bars, 8 Coarse Thread, 20 Ash Logs, and 1 Vault Core. Once the anvil is placed, you’re ready to forge your Crystal Bow!
And there you have it! Now, you are equipped with all the information needed to craft the Crystal Bow in RuneScape Dragonwilds. We hope that you find this guide informative.
