Risk of Rain is back. This time in its remastered form. Titled Risk of Rain Returns, Hopoo Games has done an amazing job at remastering their debut game. Once again, you will be cutting or shooting your way through hordes of enemies while exploring strange and dangerous areas. And you will do all of that through the fifteen unique survivors, two of whom happen to be making their debut in the game. There are going to be a lot of tough challenges ahead, and the S.O.S. is one such challenge that you will need significant effort to complete.
S.O.S. is a part of the newly introduced and optional mode, Providence Trial. For the uninitiated, Providence Trials are short mini-games that can be completed to gain alternate abilities for your survivors. Each trial is exclusive to a certain character and can be completed in just a few minutes, provided you have the skills to do so. And it seems like S.O.S. is one of the hardest trials in Risk of Rain Returns. So, check out the guide below and complete the challenge.
Risk of Rain Returns (RoRR) How to Beat S.O.S
As stated earlier, S.O.S. is one of the many Providence Trails that you will be taking on in Risk of Rain Returns. This particular one is meant for Commando, but when you start the trial, you will actually be playing as a Drone. Something which the Trial’s condition clearly states:
Fly around the cavern and shatter at least 50 targets as a Drone. Enemy aggression escalates with score.
As you can see, you will need to destroy a minimum of fifty targets as a Drone and you will be doing that by using your one and only attack. And since enemies will get more aggro as the kill score escalates, you will need to be extra cautious as you reach that Trial target.
The one enemy that you need to steer clear of is the big Jellyfish or, as it’s officially called, Wandering Vagrant. If you don’t, expect to get one shot. It’s because of this that we suggest you focus on the outer areas and avoid the inner ones as much as possible. The reason we recommend that is because doing so will help you avoid getting swarmed and destroy targets more easily. And if you see a healing item, it’s best not to take it. That’s good old bait, and you will be inviting certain death almost every time you try to reach for it. You should just circle around the map and never stay stationary or in the same place if you want to finish the trial.
Don’t be greedy, and just aim for a minimum of fifty. Your goal should be to aim for fifty targets and stay in front of enemies. Keep running and don’t even think about stopping. Once you have achieved that fifty-point score, you can freely aim for a higher score as much as you like.
So, did you beat S.O.S.? We hope you did. Anyway, if you want to know where to find the game’s save file location, check out this guide. And as always, don’t forget to follow DigiStatement for more guides like this. Also, read: Risk of Rain Returns (RoRR): How to Unlock Drifter?
