Risk of Rain Returns finally saw its official release on November 9, 2023, and fans are certainly having a good time experiencing it. So much so that the game achieved a 24-hour peak player count of about 41K players (data sourced from SteamDB). Suffice it to say, Risk of Rain Returns is a worthwhile title from Hopoo Games and a great addition to the roguelike genre. In Risk of Rain Returns, you will be spending a lot of time trying to take down tough bosses and kill enemies faster. And, artifacts will certainly be a big part of that process.
For the uninitiated, artifacts are unique game modifiers that will certainly help you make a run a lot easier than before. However, due to just how game-changing they happen to be, it’s not so easy to unlock them. But that is something we can take care of. The following guide will list all the available artifacts in the game and also help you unlock them. So, continue reading for more details.
Risk of Rain Returns (RoRR) All Artifacts List & How to Unlock Them
As of now, Risk of Rain Returns features a total of eleven artifacts. Unlocking all of them would certainly take some time, but the rewards are certainly worth all this effort. So, without further ado, here are all the artifacts in the game:

| Tempus | Gives stacks of three temporary items. | This artifact in particular is hard to find. So far, it hasn’t been found by many, but some have reported that they came across it in a dark hole spawned in the map. So, you might need to explore for a while to get it. |
| Spirit | Survivor will run faster the lower their health is. | Can be found in Temple Ruins. Head east and jump off of the side to land on the hidden platform there. Keep jumping across platforms, and you will eventually reach the Artifact. |
| Command | Rarity boxes will appear instead of random items. The player is given the ability to select an item from several choices, and that chosen item will drop next. | Located in the Hive Cluster. Go top right, and climb up the platform using the vines. Next, use the disappearing vines to get across and get Command. |
| Spite | Enemies will explode upon their deaths. | Once you are in Sky Meadows, be on the lookout for a small hole. Get in, and it will take you to the bottom of the map. Now, jump across and follow the platforms to receive Spite. |
| Distortion | Survivor skills change every minute with decreased cooldowns. | Found in Damp Caverns. Head top right and keep your eye out for three platforms with strange structures. To reach the platform, either get something that increases your jump range or use Pilot. After you get to the platform, use the ability to make the Artifact of Distortion appear. |
| Sacrifice | Chests will stop appearing. Instead, you will get loot from monsters when they die. | Head to Magma Barracks and use an attack that can pierce walls to activate the three buttons located behind the thin walls. After the three buttons are hit, navigate to the bottom of the map to get your hands on the Artifact of Sacrifice. |
| Enigma | Gives the player random equipment that changes with each use. | Located in a southern-eastern area of Sunken Tomb. Search for a bouncy pit, and when you find it, jump on it. Next, you will be bounced back into the place where the Enigma is. |
| Origin | With the passing of every ten minutes, a nearby portal will spawn 3-5 Purple Imps and a Vanguard. | Activate all other artifacts before trying to get this one. Once that’s done, get to the end of RoRR, and defeat the final boss. Afterwards, go down a level, and you will get the Artifact of Origin. |
| Glass | Increases your damage to 500% at the cost of lowering health to 10%. (Effectively making you a glass canon) | Go to the Frozen Tundra and climb up either the mountain’s east or west side. Soon you will come across an alcove that leads to a cave. Head in and hit every single button. Artifact of Glass will spawn the moment you hit the last button. |
| Kin | Only one enemy will spawn per map. | Can be found in Dried Lake. Look out for a broken piece of wall and when you find it, destroy it. Enter the hidden area, hit the three buttons inside, and get the Artifact of Kin. |
| Honor | Enemies will now spawn as elites. | Head to Desolate Forest. Go westward and enter the tunnel in there. Now make your way to the south and then west. Eventually, you will come across a stair-like structure. Go up and get the artifact. |
