RimWorld: How to get components?
RimWorld is a very detailed and in-depth game. While it is brutal, it also makes sure that you can gather resources if you anticipate and prepare for danger. In order to get components in this game, you can use multiple sources. The game is designed in such a way that it allows you to gather resources from multiple sources and not have to use just 1 source. Because of this, you can easily collect components and prepare for those later game builds.
Below, you will find the most common ways to gather components in this game.
1). Mining
Components can be found on almost all maps in-game. In maps that are not extreme, It can be found around your settlement as dark yellow colored tiles. These tiles are almost always 6 or so wide and easy to mine for components. You can also acquire components by crafting which will require 12 Steel and a colonist with Crafting 8+ level.
2). Deconstructing Ship Chunks.
This is a far less reliable method of getting components but it is nonetheless viable. If you deconstruct larger ship chunks, you will be given 20 steel and between 5-6 components. This is not so reliable because these chunks fall as random spawns and are not consistent. You have to be lucky to find them.
3). Buy it from Passing Traders.
Traders sometimes visit your colony. All traders carry this vital resource so it is more reliable than the Ship Chunks method, however, it can work out to be very expensive. Once you have access to a Comms Console, you can also buy components from trade ships in orbit of the planet.
