Palworld continues on its rise to the top, having already sold over 5 million copies since its early access release on January 19, 2024. That’s not all, though. At the time of publishing this, Palworld saw an all-time peak of about 1,570,002 players. Not the kind of player numbers many were expecting before its release. And now, with so many new players joining in, it’s only evident that many players would want to know everything there’s to know about the game. A major one happens to be getting to know about how to fly on a Pal.
Palworld happens to be an open-world game, so traveling long distances on foot can turn boring quite fast. This is why flying is preferred by so many for long-distance travel. Plus, flying on a Pal, taking in all the gorgeous scenery is something everyone thinks about after a while. So, without much further ado, let’s go ahead and find out how you can fly on a Pal in Palworld.
Palworld: How to fly on Pal
Well, before you can fly on a Pal in Palworld, you will need to find a Pal that can fly. A common choice for many seems to be the Nitewing, the one that looks like Staraptor from Pokemon. While there are certainly many more Pals with flying capabilities, Nitewing is best as your first mount. As for their best locations, they can usually be found flying between the Fort Ruins and Grassy Behemoth Hills, so those places are your best bets for catching one.
First of all, Nitewing are hard to catch using the normal Pal Sphere. In fact, we suggest that you obtain some Mega or even Giga Spheres, as this will make it easier to catch one. After that, get a good ranged weapon and make sure that your Pals are leveled up properly. The Nitewing’s in the previously mentioned area range from level 9 to 11, so level up your Pals accordingly. Once you have found a Nitewing, start attacking in order to weaken it. When it’s weak enough, throw your Pal Sphere and capture it.
Crafting a Saddle
Now that you have captured a Nitewing, it’s time to craft a saddle. The Nitewing Saddle blueprint is unlocked at level 15 of the Tech Tree, so if you aren’t at that level, start farming XP. Once you are at Techology Level 15, unlock the Nitewing Saddle blueprint from the tech tree by using two Technology Points. Now, you need to gather the following resources for crafting a saddle:
- 20 Paldium Fragment
- 20 Fiber
- 15 Ingot
- 10 Cloth
- 20 Leather
After getting all these items, head to a Pal Gear Workbench and craft your very own Nitewing saddle.
Mounting the Saddle
For mounting the recently crafted saddle on your Nitewing, you need to first have it on your Pal Party. When the Nitewing’s out, hold the F key on your keyboard. This will make the Nitewing run towards you and you will be able to grab the Pal and mount it. You can now fly to the skies with your Nitewing. As for controls, use the Space key to ascend, Shift to move faster, and V to descend. Do note that flying will consume your Nitewing’s stamina. If the stamina runs out, both you and your Pal will immediately start plummeting into the ground. While there’s no fall damage this way, it’s better to avoid running out of stamina. A quick way to extend your air time and have a smooth landing when there’s no stamina is to simply dismount from the Pal by holding F and then pressing Space to activate your parachute.
