Overwatch: How to check server status when servers are down

Overwatch is a character-based tactical FPS shooter that is wildly popular for its graphics, gameplay, and mechanics. It has been published by Blizzard, the same people behind the Call of Duty battle royale games and the upcoming, Overwatch 2. Overwatch has long enjoyed a reputation for being a strong contender for one of the best-optimized games which can run on the most dated hardware and provides decent FPS for players to actually be good at the game. This reputation of Overwatch has caused a huge number of players to buy and play the game. The massive inflow of players means Overwatch has needed to have some very stable and strong server connections as it caters to a massive player base across the world. In this article, we will take a look at Overwatch: How to check server status when servers are down.

Overwatch: How to check server status when servers are down

Overwatch servers are maintained by Blizzard. There have been situations where Blizzard faced server issues causing disruption in the functioning of their title. This is understandably unwanted as they lose millions of dollars in revenue if they do not keep their servers up to date and well maintained. They are known for scheduling maintenance and updates to take place at odd hours to make sure that no player is disturbed and the servers are under minimum load when the updates take place.

Overwatch: How to check server status when servers are down?

Players have one of two options to check for Overwatch server status when they suspect Overwatch has gone down. They can either rely on third-party websites which run on user reports and can be misreporting the number of reports and the times at which those reports were made or they can check the official Twitter of Blizzard to understand if there is a server issue. We recommend that players do the latter as it is more reliable.

If that is not an option, then we recommend that the player looks at a website like DownDetector with an easy report feature where the last refresh time of the status of servers is made clearly known. They should also pay attention to traffic on the website as that is usually a good indicator of the status of the servers. In addition to these facts, we recommend that the player looks at various websites to confirm that this is consistent as there are cases where it will not be consistent with other third-party sites which makes the site suspicious and unreliable.
