A decade of illegal scanlation of WSJ titles is coming to an end as Mangastream has decided to shut down its website. The site has decided to stop working on providing raw scans of One Piece and other WSJ titles for eternity. Following them, JaminisBox has also announced shutting down scanlation of all WSJ titles.
Mangastream website is entirely down even their tweets have been deleted, and the account has been made private. Meanwhile, JaminisBox has put an announcement regarding their future services on discord.
In their announcement, JaminisBox mentioned that following Mangastream’s step, they won’t provide scanlations of WSJ titles, but will continue to work on Webtoons and other series from different magazines (YJ, WSM and so on).
End of Decade Of illegal Scanlations
Mangastream had been providing raw scans of WSJ titles from the past ten years, and now they have decided to put an end to the services. It has done to provide the legal scanlations by MangaPlus (MP) a space to act as a noble and legal space to supports the Mangaka. Here is the official announcement from the side of JaminisBox:
The idea is to let this turn of the decade change the scanlation scene, hoping services like MangaPlus (MP) can grow and put out more free content. Giving way to a new era of scanlation, fueled by the wills and wants of manga fans that want a free, accessible and legal alternative that supports the mangaka. We hope that this will improve the quality of both the scans and translations that MP offers (only time will tell).
From now JaminisBox won’t work on the following titles:
– Black Clover
– We Can’t Study
– My Hero Academia
– One Piece
– The Promised Neverland
– Jujutsu Kaisen
– Samurai 8
– Dr Stone
– Dr Stone Reboot
JaminisBox further showed the work done by Mangastream in past ten years. They said that their team will work on some titles, but for only their staff and personal use.
About Other Sources Like Mangadex, Kissmanga, Mangasee etc.
Many fans are hoping to get raw scans from other manga sources like Mangadex, Kissmanga, MangaRock etc. Unfortunately, the availability of raw scans has been completely shut down by the actions of Mangastream and Jaminisbox as other sites steal and rehost the chapters translated by them. They are only aggregator website they don’t have their translating team.
So, from now there will be no unofficial release of chapters. But you can read them freely from an only legal source, Mangaplus on Sunday.
