After Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen is the newest addition to the ever-expanding genre of Soulslike. Developed by Hexworks, LotF saw its official release on October 13, 2023, and is now available for download on the latest generation of consoles and, of course, Microsoft Windows. Now, like most Soulslike titles, Lords of the Fallen also has a multiplayer feature that can be used to invite friends and play with them. But how do you do it, though? Continue reading for more details.
Multiplayer has always been one of the underrated aspects of Soulslike games. And with Lords of the Fallen, it’s the same too. While it’s always fun to try beating a boss alone, sometimes you just need a friend to enjoy the game with. So, how do you invite friends in Lords of the Fallen?
Lords of the Fallen (2023): How to Invite Friends & Play with them
Well, before you can invite your friends and enjoy a fun run with them in Lords of the Fallen, there are certain things you need to do. First and foremost, create your character and go through the usual opening shenanigans. Once the first boss is defeated, you will eventually come across the Vestige of Ranik. These are the game’s checkpoints. Interact with a Vestige, and you will get four options: – Rest, Warp to Vestige, Upgrade Character, and Multiplayer. As you might have already guessed, Multiplayer is the one you need to select. Next, you will find four more options:
- Beckon Lampbearer
- Beckon Friend
- Accompany Lampbearer
- Slaughter Lampbearer
So, what do these four fancy words mean? Well, Beckon Lampbearer allows you to invite random players and play with them. Beckon Friend speaks for itself. Accompany Lampbearer is the opposite of the first option, i.e., join random players. Lastly, Slaughter Lampbearer is this game’s PvP. When selected, you will be able to invade another player’s session and fight them. And so, to play with friends, use the Beckon Friend option and invite a friend from your friend list.
Now, if you want some private session fun, open the in-game settings menu and switch to Multiplayer. From there, enter a password into the session password option and share that same password with whomever you want to play the game with.
Crossplay and other stuff
The game also has a crossplay option. And if you want to play with friends who happen to be on other platforms, you will need to enable it. You can do that within the same Multiplayer option mentioned in the previous para.
Now, you need to know certain things about multiplayer in this game. The first is that you or your friend will not be sent to the home world when defeated. If you want to revive a downed player, you can do that at the nearest Vestige or after finishing a boss fight. This is only applicable to the host. Guest players can’t revive. Also, know that there’s no shared progression in this game. But whatever experience you accumulate or items and weapons you get on a multiplayer run can be used to level up and equip. Another thing to keep in mind is to never stray far away from the host; otherwise, you will find yourself back in your own world.
There’s also difficulty scaling based on your weapon level. So, don’t expect an easier run when you team up with a friend or random player. And lastly, the most important of all, crossplay is not allowed between consoles. Crossplay across PC and Xbox or PS is fine, but not across Xbox and PS. It’s an unfortunate thing but it is what it is.
One more thing! Right now, crossplay in the game is having some issues. We do have a guide on that, so check it out. And as always, keep following DigiStatement for more like this. Also, read: Lords of the Fallen (2023) DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG Error Code 887A0006: How to fix
