Zeekerss’ Lethal Company is the latest co-op horror game sensation in the video gaming community, taking its spot from Kinetic Games’ Phasmophobia. Released on October 24, 2023, as an early access title, Lethal Company is all about scavenging and exploring abandoned, industrialized moons. Well, you aren’t doing that out of curiosity, of course. It’s to sell whatever you can get in those moons to the Company. But unknown and malicious dangers lurk around these abandoned moons, and it’s only by working together that you can finish your job and return safely. However, there are certain bugs and issues with this early-access title that make the game not particularly fun to play. And one of these problems happens to be the Files Not Loading/Corrupted issue.
Well, as the name suggests, many players are finding it hard to enjoy the game due to encountering constant file corruption errors and not loading issues. This mostly happens when trying to get past the multiplayer or LAN screen. So, is there a fix for this issue? Continue reading to find out!
Lethal Company Files Not Loading/Corrupted Issue: Is there any fix yet
For now, players will have to make do with the following workarounds, as we are yet to get an official fix. So try these and see if any of them are of help to you.
Restart –
The first thing that we recommend you do is simply restart the game. This is more to see if this is just a one-time issue or something that would require more attention. If restarting indeed fixes this issue, then congrats. However, if it doesn’t, you can try out another workaround.
Verify files –
Since this is also a corrupted file issue, the best thing to do here is to verify the files. You can do that by opening Steam and navigating to the Library. From there, right-click on the game and then select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Now, wait until the process is over, after which you should restart the PC and then launch Lethal Company.
Delete certain files –
You can also go to the following folder and delete its contents: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\LocalLow\ZeekerssRBLX\LethalCompany. Once you have deleted everything inside the LethalCompany folder, start the game and check whether you encounter the issue once again.
Check server status –
Players can also try checking the game’s server status to see if the servers are working properly or not. Now since Lethal Company doesn’t have a dedicated webpage to check out server status, we suggest you join the official Discord server. Additionally, you also should check your internet connection, if possible.
Install the latest update –
While we can’t totally give you a guarantee that this will work or not, we still recommend you update the game. After you’ve downloaded and installed the available update, start the game and see if the issue persists. If it does, move on to the next workaround. Additionally, we also suggest you install the most stable drivers, just to be on the safe side of things.
Allow the game through your antivirus –
Some players were able to successfully get around this issue by allowing the game through their antivirus software, and as such, we recommend you do the same too. Essentially, what you need to do is:
- Open Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection.
- In the new window, scroll down a bit and select Manage settings under Virus & Threat Protection settings.
- Next, scroll down once again and click on Add or Remove exclusions. After that, add the game to the exclusion list by selecting the Add an Exclusion button.
Fresh install –
You can also try doing a fresh install of the game and see if that fixes this issue. Once you have reinstalled the game, open it and check whether the issue remains or not. If yes, then the only other thing that we can recommend is to contact support.
Well, that’s the extent of our knowledge on this topic. Additionally, if you want to know how to change keybinds in the game, check out this guide. Anyway, for more guides like this, don’t forget to follow DigiStatement. Also read: Lethal Company Infinite Loading Screen Issue: Is there any fix yet
