Lethal Company launched into early access on October 23, 2023, and so far it’s been getting great reception from the community. Players are enjoying their time in the game and are giving out their feedback wherever possible. However, due to being in early access and being a solo dev project, Lethal Company has some issues and bugs that players would love to get rid of. And one of them happens to be the Error Occurred message that many are encountering frequently.
Most players are getting the error message when trying to play the game with their friends. Now, we can’t really say what’s actually causing this error message to pop up, but it’s happening enough that players are looking for any kind of fix. So, is there a fix available? Zeerkerss has yet to take note of this issue, but we are sure that a fix will be made available soon enough. Until then, you can try the following workarounds:
Switch to LAN play –
Certain players have suggested switching to LAN instead of online might help in getting past this issue, so we suggest you give it a try. Additionally, if you happen to have more than one router, you can try switching between them and see if that helps. You can also try using a different network connection and checking if the issue persists.
Verify the game files –
A common fix for issues such as this is to simply verify files. You can do that by opening Steam and then clicking on Library. Next, right-click on the game and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Once the process is over, you can restart your PC and then launch the game itself.
Update the game –
Try not to keep the game out of updates. Make sure you are playing the game on the latest available update, and if the issue remains, try the next method.
Allow the game through firewall –
Firewall can block internet access, which can result in issues such as these. And so, we recommend that you make sure that the game is allowed through the firewall. To do that,
- Open Windows Settings and then head to Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Firewall & Network Protection.
- In the next window, scroll down and select Allow an app through Firewall.
- Now, before we do anything, you need to click on the Change Settings button at the top and click Yes when prompted with admin access.
- After that, find the game in the list, and if it isn’t there, use the Allow another app button to add the game’s .exe file by heading over to its installation directory.
- Next, checkmark both the Private and Public options. You can now end the process by clicking on OK.
Reinstall –
If the issue still remains, you can just try doing a fresh install of the game and hope that fixes it. If even this workaround doesn’t provide any meaningful results, we recommend waiting for an official fix to be released or contacting the developer for additional assistance.
