The new League of Legends patch 10.9 is scheduled for release on April 29. Riot Games has already given the first glimpses of the changes players can expect via Twitter. The Skins released are here.
As last time, the leading League of Legends gameplay designer Mark “Scruffy” Yetter took over the position of the shot caller for the first information about the new LoL patch. He gave his first glimpse into the world of thoughts of the Riot Games designers via Twitter.
Patch Preview for 10.9:
Trying something new here by showing where specifically we see the champs over-performing that we intend to nerf. Let me know if you like this and if we should keep doing it.

5 nerfs, 6 buffs
Nerfs
- Wukong (Very OP both jungle and TOP from Platinum)
- Karthus (Very OP in the jungle from Diamond 2)
- Trundle (Very OP in the jungle in competitive)
- Bardo (Very OP as support from Diamante 2)
- Nami (Very OP as support in the bass)
Buffs
- Crimson Blade
- Kayn
- Lissandra
- Quinn
- Gnar
- Cho’Gath
- Fiddlesticks Support
A total of five champions are on the blacklist: three junglers and two supporters. On the one hand the jungle kings Wukong, Karthus and Trundle, on the other hand, Nami and Bard. Compared to his tweet for patch 10.8, Scruffy also stated why the nerfs meet the champion. More specifically, in which ELOs outperform the individual heroes so much that they have to be weakened to restore balance.
Wukong, for example, is nerfed as a jungler between the platinum and challenger ranks due to its excessively high win rate. The monkey king continues to perform extremely well on the Toplane. Another nerf was therefore inevitable from the designers’ perspective.
Trundle, on the other hand, will come under the nerf hammer because of its strength at the professional level. Anyone who has followed the LEC Spring Split Playoffs will know why. The giant troll enjoyed great popularity there for a reason.
But as usual with every patch, there is always the counterpart to the nerfs: the buffs. This time, players who are traveling with the champions Kayn, Lissandra, Quinn, Gnar Cho’Gath or a support fiddlesticks can look forward to. Exact details why and why Scruffy did not give the buffs. The reason will be simple: all of the named champions currently appear somewhat harmless. On any ELO.
In addition, the item Blood Blade (Sanguine Blade) should be changed. How exactly the players will experience on Wednesday, April 29, when Patch 10.9 will go live.
