Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is fresh off the shelves and so far, the reviews are positive. But that does not mean that the game is entirely free of crashes and other issues. That being said, you clicked on this guide because you are facing the Black screen issue. So, is there any fix yet for this? Have the devs said anything? Keep reading till the end for all the answers.
Black screen issues are one of the most common issues when it comes to games on PC or any system for that matter. In the case of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, players have reported that the black screen makes it impossible for them to tweak any setting in the game. All in all, the game remains unplayable for those facing this issue. So, how to fix it? More details on the same are shared below.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Black Screen Issue: Is there any fix yet
Unfortunately, as of writing this guide, the officials have yet to address the issue and we do not have a sure-shot fix that will work for everyone. However, we do have some player-suggested fixes that are worth trying out! Here are those potential fixes.
Restart and basic checks
Before trying the player-suggested fixes, start with these basic troubleshooting steps: restart your system to clear any temporary glitches, check for GPU driver updates to ensure compatibility with the game, and run the game as an administrator to avoid permission-related problems. Finally, right-click on the game from your Steam library, click properties, open the Installed Files tab, and get your game files verified.
Config File fix
Some players facing black screen crashes after the splash logos have found a workaround involving the “Texture Pool Size Setting.” Since they couldn’t access the in-game settings, they located and deleted the TheGreatCircleConfig.local file at the path given below. Also, don’t forget to take a backup of this file before deleting it. The config file can be found in this directory: C:\Users\<yourname>\Saved Games\MachineGames\TheGreatCircle\base. Deleting this file will force the game to regenerate it with default settings on the next launch, which could let you get past the black screen. After launching the game, close it. Now, again, access the same directory where the config file is found and open it with Notepad. After this, lower the “Texture Pool Size Setting” to somewhere in the range of 1500 to 2500, stabilizing the game. For the values, you might have to experiment a bit but for a starting point, setting it to 900 is what worked for one player.
Delete Rune Folder
Another potential fix involves deleting specific files related to the game. To do this, head over to the following directory: “C\Users\Public\Documents\Steam\”. Here, look around and try and locate the “RUNE” folder. Inside, delete only the 2677660 folder. After this, restart the game to see if this fixes the issue. If it does not, open the RUNE folder again and delete the entire folder this time.
No Launch Commands
Some players have reported that deleting the 2677660 folder inside the “RUNE” directory was not the only thing that helped. According to them, they also needed to remove the +com_skipIntroVideo 1 launch command from the game’s shortcut. To do this, right-click the game in your library, select Properties, and clear the launch options field where the command was entered. Now, launch the game and see if you still face any black screen issues.
Update/Reinstall
If none of the above-mentioned fixes do the trick for you, the last thing to try is to look for an update. If there is an update pending, download and install it asap. If the game is already up-to-date, try reinstalling the game altogether. While doing so, we recommend installing the game on a faster drive like an SSD.
With those workarounds, we hope that you were able to get past the Black Screen issues in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Now, if you want to know how to fix the crashing issues in the game, click here to find out. Do stay tuned to DigiStatement for more daily gaming reads like this.
