Huawei has been on the news for both positive and negative reasons. The brand is a Chinese tech giant that feeds a massive fan base gained due to various reasons. Huawei also owns a popular sub-brand Honor that is equally loved and waited for launches. Huawei is popular for its custom OS EMUI and premium device appearance. The brand shifted its focus to mid-range devices a while ago. But still never dropped, providing visually appealing and attractive designs regardless of the price. It seems like Huawei is quite a bit at a problem with various events taking place for a couple of years.

EMUI and Android were what Huawei was all about. But recently, Harmony OS has been surfing around, which is software from Huawei. Therefore, here we are with an article about all that you need to know regarding Harmony OS and its growth.

Harmony OS Details-

Huawei has been banned by Google from using any of its services. This includes apps, services, and even Android OS. Huawei is an Android-based smartphone producer, but things need to change now. This ban hasn’t affected the already purchased Huawei devices, but the upcoming ones won’t support any default Gapps or Android OS. This is exactly where Harmony OS comes into the play.

Huawei has been building an OS named Harmony OS since 2012. But the requirement of execution never really appeared. But the recent event has forced the brand to work on Harmony OS to support the upcoming Huawei line-up. Harmony OS is targeted to be a developer as an alternative software to replace and be a rival for Android OS. With devices being popular for either Android or iOS, Harmony OS is expected to join the competition soon on the software end.

Harmony OS

Also, not just for Huawei, but the brand is aiming to provide Harmony OS to any device of any brand that requires an OS to run on. In this way, Harmony OS will not be a Huawei exclusive software like EMUI, but an open OS for all smart devices like Android. Harmony OS will also support cross-platform connections like smart TV and smartwatches and will replace every Google Play Services. The central feature of Harmony OS would be Huawei Mobile Service (HMS). Above all, Huawei is aiming to extend the Harmony OS in such a way that it can support laptops too.

Overall, Harmony OS will not be a custom ROM exclusive for a single tech brand. But instead, it is a free microkernel-based operating system, promising to provide the best user experience and interface for smart tech.

Four main Features of Harmony OS-

Harmony OS has been a lot more than just software for a while. Check out the four main features of Harmony OS that will count beneficial-

Continuity of Harmony OS

Harmony OS employs distributed architecture and distributed virtual channel technology. The OS will now be able to target singular goals on achieving the distribution of applications and software across devices and gadgets. The brand doesn’t need to work on multiple developers and distributed apps anymore.

Smooth Functionality of Harmony OS

The company is known for lag-free and better functioning of OS than any other custom software. Harmony OS uses the Deterministic Latency Engine to increase response time and dodge lag. Also, the Inter-Process Communication productivity feature when combines with the engine reduces the delay by 25.7%.

Security of Harmony OS

Harmony OS uses formal verification in device TEE. If you wonder what that does, it enhances the security at both user and developer end. Also, as mentioned above, Harmony OS is a microkernel design, and therefore, it has better latency.

Unification

Finally, Harmony OS will allow developers to combine high-level languages. This will create a unified environment and open various improvements. This will increase productivity and integrated software.

Ahead of the ban imposed, Huawei confirmed that Harmony OS will be ready to launch within 6 – 9 months (recorded in November 2019). This software is already supporting smart TV but only the Chinese variants. We can expect more details about the launch in the month of May 2020. Also, the second half of the year 2020 will most probably mark the official announcement and release of Harmony OS.
