How to play Pokemon Scarlet & Violet (SV) on PC via Ryujinx emulator

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is out globally and fans are enjoying the brand-new features and RPG elements that the game has to offer. The beautiful graphics, seamless open world, raid battles, and ninth gen pokemon roster are exquisite and have set the bar high for the franchise. Well, since Pokemon games are mostly Nintendo exclusives, PC players don’t get to enjoy the fun. So, to fix this, emulators came into existence that can run any(almost) Nintendo Switch title on PC. Ryujinx is one of the Nintendo Switch emulators that can make the game look gorgeous and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is fully playable in it. Wondering how to set it up? This guide is just for you. How to play Pokemon Scarlet & Violet (SV) on PC via Ryujinx emulator

Pokemon games have always received well among the fans and for decades it has evolved for the better. Scarlet & Violet takes the concept of previous games like Legend Arceus and Sword & Shield and improves it exceptionally. With that said, the game has by far received amazing reviews. However, there are issues in the game, but that’s just common. The technical issues in PSV are clear as day on Switch and many people complained about this. However, emulating the game on your PC can provide a better experience so, you can give it a try. Ryujinx can run the game already and it’ll be a while before Yuzu, another switch emulator gets it functional. See the below section on how to get it running.

How to play Scarlet & Violet in the Ryujinx emulator on PC?

Before you emulate Pokemon Scarlet & Violet on your PC, make sure that your CPU has 4/6 cores or higher. Anything below that won’t get you the desired results so if you have the required firepower, we have laid out instructions on how to set Ryujinx for the game.

To play Scarlet and Violet on your PC, you need to get the Ryujinx emulator from the official website. Click on the Download button and select the Windows version. Run the installer and let it complete. Now the next thing you need some files which includes the game itself, update file, prod keys, title keys, and firmware. You need to have Firmware 15.0.0 or the latest to run it.

Steps to set up Ryujinx for Scarlet & Violet on PC

  • Launch Ryujinx and if you see the “keys not found” popup, do not worry. Simply press “Ok” and it’ll ask you to choose your default graphics backend. Use Vulkan as your backend as it is more stable and gives more performance.
  • To add prod and title keys, click on File and open the Ryujinx folder, go to “System” and paste the prod and title keys in there.
  • The next thing you have to do is install the firmware version. Therefore, go to “Tools”, Install firmware, then click on “Install a firmware from XCI or ZIP”. Select the Firmware 15.0.0.zip file you downloaded, and press “Open”. It will give you a prompt so click on “Yes” and it’ll give you a message of successfully installed.
  • After that, go to the folder where Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are and add it to Ryujinx. To do that, go to “Options” and then “Settings”. In the Game Directory settings, click on “Add” and navigate to where you’ve put the game. Once you’ve located it, press “Add” and click “Save” and it’s done.

Now that you’ve properly added Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to Ryujinx, it’s time we tinker with a few settings to make it more optimized. You can use these settings for any other switch game, including Scarlet & Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Best Settings for High FPS in Ryujinx

Now that we’re done setting up Ryujinx, we have to make a few adjustments get the most out of the game. Follow the steps to do that.

  • Launch the emulator, go to “Options” and click on “Settings”. Click on “Input” and click on “Configure” under Player 1. If you have a controller plugged in, select the controller and choose the default profile, and press “Load”. Click on “Save” and your controller profile should be active.
  • Next, go to the “System” tab. You can tick the “Expand DRAM size to 6GB” and “Ignore Missing Service” options, however only change them if you feel like the game is not running correctly.
  • In the Graphics tab, choose “Auto” for Graphics Backend Multithreading. The Graphics Backend option should be set to “Vulkan”, and the Preferred GPU should be the primary GPU you are using. Turn on Enable Shader Cache, and select Resolution Scale to Native or 2X if you prefer sharp image quality.
  • In the Logging tab, make sure you leave the settings to default. Once you’ve run the game, disable all of them to increase performance.
  • After you have changed these settings, Click on “Save” and try starting Scarlet & Violet on Ryujinx.
  • Simply double-click on Pokemon Scarlet/ Violet and enjoy the game in HD resolution, and higher FPS.

How to update Scarlet & Violet on Ryujinx?

You can play Scarlet & Violet via Ryujinx, however, we’d advise you to update the game first. Patch updates will be made available just like the game’s Updating can prevent issues like random crashes, and you have a seamless experience. Follow the steps on how to do it in the emulator.

  • In Ryujinx, right-click on the game and click on “Manage title update”.
  • Click on “Add” and head to where you’ve downloaded the updated file of Scarlet & Violet. Make sure it’s in the .NSP format, then press “Add”.
  • Press “Save” and in the version section, it should say 1.01 or higher. Now double-click on the game and enjoy playing it.
  • If a new update gets released in the future, make sure to update it as it’ll contain bug fixes, new content, etc.
