Aragami 2 is a third-person action-adventure platformer from the game developer studio Lince Works. It is a direct sequel to the indie hit game Aragami. The game was released on September 17, 2021. The game is available on various platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and also on Steam and GamePass for Microsoft Windows.
What’s different from the first Aragami game?
Aragami 2 takes the main story of the first game and its original premise. It builds upon them by adding in new features and overall build upon the great content of the first game. However, unlike the first Aragami game, the follow-up sequel sees players step into the shoes of three different Aragami. Players are working to save the enchanting feudal fantasy land of “Rashomon Valley” from an invading clan in the game. In order to save the clan, players in Aragami 2 have choices to make in the game. The developers introduced co-op multiplayer to play with friends, a stamina system to replace “Shadow Essence” from the first game, and recalibration of the combat system.
Likewise, the combat system adds the ability to break guards, parry, and finish opponents. Aragami 2 also took the main gameplay mechanics of the first game and also, doubled down on the stealth elements of the gameplay. Although the sequel improved upon the original in many areas, the experience of the game is not entirely consistent because of the sub-par AI in the game.
Critical Reception of Aragami 2
The game received an average 5/10 rating from IGN and also has an overall positive Metacritic score of 66%. The critical reception for the game is average but the fans of the first game gave overall positive praise and reception for its improvements.
