Hours ago, the original site stopped working, and then users found a note from the devs that they’ve decided to completely shut down and put an end to the most loved anime downloading and streaming site- HorribleSubs.
HorribleSubs was a torrent-based anime site that provided users with magnet links to download and watch anime content. But looks like 2020 will not let anybody spend some time in peace as the pandemic becomes the reason for yet another “kill-away.” The page currently consists of a farewell note with starts like this-
HorribleSubs began more than a decade ago providing subtitles for anime. We have grown way beyond what was originally imagined. But… as the cliché saying goes, all good things must eventually come to an end.

Clearly, it is not just another “we are taking a break” post. HorribleSubs indeed is gone, not for good! This note was posted around 15 hours ago and guess what, the site is flooded with over 7000 comments and the chain doesn’t seem to come to an end.
Here are two of the reasons why HorribleSubs was the dream site for anime lovers-
Perfect subtitles-
What an irony to the name- HorribleSubs was most loved because of the perfect subtitle translation to English. Among the thousands of comments, half of them were about how the streamers would never be able to find another site that would provide such in-depth and legitimate subtitles for every anime ever posted on the site.
Episode and Season-wise uploads-
HorribleSubs was the go-to site for thousands of people. The user-friendly page had everything you could find in a paid, streaming app. The episodes were posted in order and every season of an anime show was uploaded perfectly on time, as the fans completely relied on the site for every anime release.
There are a lot of sites to provide download links of one or two episodes from one season of an anime show. But we cannot name a handful number of sites that provide every episode of every season from a show on the same platform. That’s the magic HorribleSubs cast for years!
