GPU is very important for running video games. Unfortunately, a lot of Hogwarts Legacy players seem to have noticed that the game is not using their system’s GPU. This is a serious issue because the game starts throwing errors and runs very poorly when it fails to utilize the graphic processor. Since Hogwarts Legacy is a resource-intensive game, it needs to use your CPU as well as your main GPU to run smoothly. Now, a lot of players don’t know how to deal with this error. So, if you are also looking for a solution then you have come to the right place.

Hogwarts Legacy is a fantastic video game if you are looking to dive into a wizarding world. Players get to role-play as wizards and witches while exploring Hogwarts Castle and a lot of other surrounding areas. The game has a vast map that is filled with various NPCs and creatures. This helps to keep things interesting for the players. Well, unfortunately, Hogwarts Legacy also suffers from a variety of issues. Things were a little bad at the beginning. Fortunately, the devs keep rolling out patch updates to fix such issues. But, this problem isn’t fixed yet. So without further ado, let us proceed.

Now, there are a couple of ways to fix the Hogwarts Legacy Not Using GPU error. We have mentioned all the methods below for you. Note that you will find some general troubleshooting tips as well.

1) Reboot your PC-

A lot of times, a bad system boot can trigger various issues while playing video games. So, close all the tasks and then restart your PC.

2) Update your GPU drivers-

Now, this is very important. Always keep your GPU drivers up to date. The drivers help the graphic card to perform properly. So, visit NVIDIA’s or AMD’s website and download the latest version of the GPU drivers and install them on your PC.

3) Run the game through the dedicated GPU-

This step is mostly for Laptop users or folks who have more than one GPU on their PC. It is important for you to run Hogwarts Legacy through your dedicated GPU. So, you will need to manually shift it through the settings. To do this, just follow these instructions-

  • Click on the Windows button and type Graphics Settings.
  • Click on the Browse button and look for Hogwarts Legacy’s executable file.
  • This is generally in Steam/steamapps/common/Hogwarts Legacy.
  • Now, select the game’s .exe file and then click on Options.
  • Select High-Performance NVIDIA GPU from the menu.
  • Save the setting and then close the window.

4) Verify the game files-

You can also face these types of issues due to missing or corrupt game files. You can fix this issue by verifying or repairing the game files. We have mentioned all the instructions below for you.

  • Launch the Steam Client.
  • Go to Library.
  • Right-click Hogwarts Legacy.
  • Go to Properties.
  • Head over to the Local Files tab.
  • Click on the Verify integrity of the game files option.

5) Update the game-

Usually, Steam automatically updates all your games. But, if you have turned off the Auto Update feature, then you will need to manually download and install the updates. To do this, just follow the steps below-

  • Launch Steam and go to Library.
  • Right-click Hogwarts Legacy.
  • Click on Properties.
  • Head over to the Updates tab.
  • Select the Always keep this game Up to Date option.

6) Switch to the dedicated GPU through NVIDIA Control Panel-

You can switch to the dedicated GPU through your NVIDIA Control Panel as well. To do this, press the Windows key and type NVIDIA Control Panel. Now, go to the 3d Settings tab. Here, click on the Manage 3d Settings option. Now, go to Program Settings and select Hogwarts Legacy. Now, click on the preferred graphics processor option and select High-Power NVIDIA GPU from the drop-down menu.

7) Reinstall the game-

If nothing else works out for you, then your last option is to reinstall Hogwats Legacy. Since this is quite a hassle, we recommend doing this at the very last. So, uninstall the game and then remove all the game-related files from your PC. Then, do a clean installation of the game.
