Wondering what’s actually going on with GTA 6 right now? With pre-orders going live today and a bunch of new details dropping, there’s quite a lot to unpack. The game is finally getting closer, but there are also some things that have left fans divided.
Grand Theft Auto VI is set to release on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It will be a single-player story experience set in the state of Leonida, with Vice City playing a big role.
Pre-orders opened at midnight local time on June 25 across the major stores. You can currently order the game from the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Rockstar Launcher. There are two editions available right now.
The Standard Edition costs $79.99 and gives you the full base game. The Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99 and includes some extra vehicles, weapons, and outfits. Anyone who pre-orders before November 20 will also get the Vintage Vice City Pack as a bonus, while digital buyers receive one free month of GTA Plus.
One thing that’s creating discussion is that five in-game shops are only available if you buy the Ultimate Edition. These locations won’t be accessible in the Standard Edition. Shops that will only be available in Ultimate Edition of the game.
1. Rideout Customs – This is a vehicle mod shop that lets you heavily customize the look of your cars with detailed interiors and special styling options.
2. One-Eyed Willie’s – An off-road focused mod shop located in Lake Leonida where you can upgrade vehicles for rough terrain and add hand-painted designs.
3. Stock 305 – A clothing store that offers exclusive streetwear outfits for both Jason and Lucia.
4. Sara’s Unisex Salon – Here you can change hairstyles for both characters, along with facial hair for Jason and makeup plus nail options for Lucia.
5. Electric Fang Tattoo – A tattoo shop that gives access to over 50 exclusive tattoo designs.
Talking about the physical version of the game, it will be sold, but it won’t include a disc. Instead you’ll get a box with a download code inside. These are expected to become available from November 12 so players can start pre-loading the game early.
If you’re waiting for the PC version, there’s still no official date. Rockstar has made it clear the game won’t launch on PC at the same time as consoles. Take-Two’s CEO has said Rockstar prefers to start big releases on console because that’s where they see their core audience.
Most people expect the PC version sometime in late 2027, possibly stretching into 2028. This lines up with how Rockstar has handled previous games like GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. The extra time also gives them room to properly optimize the game across the wide range of PC hardware.
A native mobile port of GTA 6 in the next five to ten years looks very unlikely. It’s for the reason the game demands heavy graphics and current or near future mobile hardware won’t be able to handle it properly
The most realistic way to play it on mobile would be through cloud gaming services once the PC version releases. Even then, it would depend on whether Rockstar decides to make the game available on those platforms.
Right now the focus is clearly on getting the console versions out in November 2026 and dealing with everything that comes with a launch of this size. There’s still plenty of time before we see how things shake out on PC and beyond.
