So you have started your farming journey in FS25 (Farming Simulator 25) and like how real-life farming goes, it is no easy task. There are a lot of factors that you need to worry about while trying to farm your lands. Yes, fertilizers, equipment, and storage units are all important for your farm’s smooth operation. But none matches the importance of water! While optimizing your farm in FS25, don’t overlook water, as it is one of the key resources that can make or break your operations. That said, here is how you can get water in the game efficiently.
If you are new to the Farming Sim series, you might have difficulty navigating through the UIs and menus to get what you want. And since you clicked on this guide, you might be having problems sourcing and managing water in FS25. Well, don’t worry! We have got you covered on how to get and transport water on your farm so that none of your crops or animals go thirsty.
Farming Simulator 25 (FS25): How to get Water
Water is not limited to plants and animals, as when you open up the build menu, you will see that different buildings and constructions have a water drop symbol at the bottom. This means that these buildings require water to construct and operate. For example, almost all sheds and barns for animals like cows, sheep, and pigs will require water. And don’t forget the greenhouse, which also requires water. Anyway, here is how you can get it.
Getting the Barrels
Before you start, you will need some barrels to haul all the liquid you need. Here is a step-by-step breakdown of acquiring a barrel in the game.
- Open the shop by either visiting the physical store location on the map or using the shop menu shortcut and clicking on the Vehicles options.
- In the vehicles section menu, select the “Animals” category.
- Within the “Animals” category, choose the “Barrels” section. Here, you’ll find four options for water barrels, each with varying sizes and capabilities
- Select the barrel you need, confirm your purchase, and it will appear in the shop’s yard.
- Drive your vehicle to the shop, attach it, and you’re ready to transport water.
Note: While choosing the barrels, keep in mind that the first two smaller ones from “abi Attachments” will only transport water and can be towed by pickup trucks or smaller vehicles. On the other hand, there are the MKS 8 and MKS 32, which are larger barrels and can help you carry other liquids like herbicides, milk, etc. The MK8 will require tractors and the much larger MKS32 will have you own a semi-trucks for towing.
Fetching Water
Once you have the barrel, you can fill it with water from one of three sources:
- Natural Water Sources: Find a natural body of water like rivers, lakes, or ponds on the map and drive your vehicle with your barrel attached to the edge of the water. Carefully back the barrel into the water until you see the refill option in the upper left corner of the screen. Press the corresponding button (usually R) to fill it up.
- Placeable Water Sources: If you don’t want to be at the mercy of nature, you can also set up your water storage units from where you can draw out water when required. To do this, go to the Build Mode and head to the Containers section. Buy a water container and place it on your farm. With your container setup, drive up to the container with your barrel and again, press the refill button (R) for a refill.
- Pre-existing Water Towers: Some maps have built-in water towers. These are not marked explicitly on the map but can usually be found near towns or farms. You might have to do a little exploring to find these water towers. When you spot one, position your barrel near it and hit the refill button (R) to start filling.
Note: Here are some key things to remember. First of all, refilling from natural resources will not cost you any money and is the best way to stock up on water if you are low on funds. Now, when it comes to the placeable water sources and water towers, refilling from these locations will cost you money. Prices can be approximately $300 per 1,000 liter, but that will depend on your game’s economic difficulty settings.
