Everspace 2 Cutscenes Not Working Issue Is there any fix yet

Everspace 2 is an exciting and visually stunning game that has captivated players with its breathtaking graphics and engaging gameplay. However, some players have reported experiencing a frustrating issue with cutscenes not working properly. Whether it’s cutscenes not playing at all, freezing, or experiencing other glitches, these issues can detract from the overall immersive experience of the game. In this article, we will delve into the issue and explore whether there are any fixes available for players who have been impacted by it.

The error being described is that the cutscenes in the game Everspace 2 are not working properly. When players reach the point in the game where a cutscene should start, they are instead presented with a black screen, and the only option left is to skip the cutscene by pressing the “F” key. The issue seems to occur for players on different platforms, including Steam, GoG, and Gamepass. Players have reported that going back to a previous autosave or restarting the game has allowed them to view the cutscenes properly, but some weren’t as lucky as them. Keep reading to know if there is a fix for this.

Everspace 2 Cutscenes Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet

Everspace 2 Cutscenes Not Working Issue Is there any fix yet

As of writing this article, it seems that there is no official fix yet for the Everspace 2 cutscenes not working issue. While some players have reported success with workarounds such as adjusting graphics settings or reinstalling codec packs, these solutions are not guaranteed to work for everyone. It can be frustrating to encounter this error, especially for those who were able to play the game without any issues during the Early Access period. However, we think that the developers might be aware of the problem and will release a fix soon. Nevertheless, we have listed some potential fixes which you can try-

Restart the Game

Sometimes, simply restarting the game and reloading the save file can help resolve issues with cutscenes not playing correctly. To do this, you can exit the game completely and relaunch it from your game library. Once the game has restarted, load your saved game file and check if the issue persists.

Verify Game Files

The “Verify game files” workaround is a common solution for fixing game-related issues. Here are the steps to perform this workaround:

  • Open Steam and go to your game library.
  • Find Everspace 2 and right-click on it.
  • In the drop-down menu that appears, select “Properties”.
  • In the Properties window, click on the “Local Files” tab.
  • Click on the “Verify integrity of game files” button. This will initiate a scan that will check for any missing or corrupted files in the game.
  • Wait for the scan to finish. This process may take a few minutes. If any missing or corrupted files are found, Steam will automatically download and replace them.

Install Media Feature Pack

One player who was facing the same reported that the cause of the issue was the missing “Media feature pack” that was not installed on their system. If that’s the case, you can download the Media Feature Pack from Microsoft’s official website and then install it. After this, launch the game, and check if the cutscenes are rendered correctly.

Uninstall Codec Packs

Codec packs are software packages that include various codecs for playing different types of media files. Although these packs can be useful in some cases, they can sometimes cause conflicts with other software and interfere with video playback in games. If you have any codec packs installed on your system, you can try uninstalling them to see if that resolves the issue. To uninstall a codec pack on Windows 10, follow these steps:

  • Open the Start menu and click on the gear icon to open the Settings app.
  • Next, click on “Apps”.
  • Scroll down and find the codec pack you want to uninstall, click on it and select “Uninstall”.

Try switching up the DirectX versions

DX11 and DX12 are different versions of Microsoft’s DirectX graphics technology, which is used by many games to render graphics and videos. Running the game in DX11 mode instead of DX12 might resolve the issue with cutscenes not playing. To do so, head to the Steam Library, right-click on Everspace 2, and select Properties. Now, select the General Settings tab, and then under the Launch options, enter “-dx11” and then save the changes. After this, launch the game, and the issue should be fixed.

Remember that an official fix is not out yet and the above-mentioned fixes are just potential solutions for the cutscenes not playing error in Everspace 2. Ultimately, a fix from the developers’ end is needed to permanently address this issue. That is all for this guide, and if you found it helpful, make sure to stay tuned to Digistatement.
