Endless Dungeon 3-player Co-op mode disappointed fans, here's what the devs had to say

Rogue-like games are perhaps best enjoyed with friends. This is a statement that we are sure a lot of other players will resonate with. If you are a fan of rogue-like games, then you must have heard about Endless Dungeon, the new and upcoming rogue-like action RPG from Amplitude Studios. If you had been looking forward to playing the game, then you will have to wait a while as the release date has now been pushed back to  October 19, 2023. As disappointing as it may be, it is nothing new in the realm of video game releases. But, apart from the delay in release, there is another thing that players discovered. The game offers a 3-player Co-op, yes, you heard that right. A 2/4-player co-op is the norm in most games, but Amplitude had its own ideas. So, what do the devs have to say about all of this? If you are someone looking for answers, then you have landed on the right page.

Endless Dungeon is set to stir things up with its release later this year, but players have already taken to various online forums to find out if the game really is a 3-player co-op. By opting for this option, Amplitude has broken the hearts of many players who like to play with their friends in a squad of 4 or even 5. This may or may not hurt the overall sales of the game, but to know that, we will have to wait until the game is officially released. Meanwhile, the community asked the developers for clarification, and they responded. Keep reading to know what the devs had to say to the disappointed fans.

As we mentioned earlier, many players are curious to know about this choice in development and have been posting questions on online forums. One such user, named “Parziiii” posted a query on the game’s official Steam discussion forums. He posted,

“Was hoping that I could add this to the list of games to play with my 3 other friends. We were excited for this and upon the delay I noticed it was a 3-player co-op. Sad sad!”

In the thread’s comment section, other players echoed the sentiment. But the most important comment is perhaps from the dev named “Daarkarr0w” who has given their reasons for choosing a 3-player co-op mode. The dev said the following:

“It evolved during its development. The team tried to have 4, which could work on a multiplayer/co-op, but as a single-player, it didn’t work (the flow, how players can manage x at the same time, etc.).

I know that it could be sad for the squads of friends of 4. I will say that you can try to have 2 squads of 2 and try some funny challenges or speed runs”

From the dev’s comment, we can clearly see that the team had trouble incorporating the 4-player co-op mode that they had initially planned. Considering all the complications, they decided to stick with a 3-player co-op mode. While it may not be what the players wanted, we have no other option but to respect the decision taken by the developing team and hope that a finished game with minimal errors and bugs is released. Well, that is all that the devs had to say on the matter. We hope this article was informative, and for more reads like this, keep checking Digistatement.
