EA Sports FC 24 Rivals Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet

EA Sports FC 24 is essentially this year’s FIFA title, with just a new name. Officially released on September 29, 2023, the game is available on all major platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. Like other football titles from EA, this one too is at the same level as them, i.e., good but not great. And like those games, it also has a myriad of issues currently plaguing it. One of the more recent ones happens to be plaguing the Rivals game mode.

For the uninitiated, Rivals or Ultimate Team Rivals is one of the many online modes in EA FC 24. It’s described as “an online seasonal competition with a skill-driven rank system that can be played solo or co-op.” When you win a match in Rivals, your ranks increase, and as you climb up the ladder, your division will be determined, and accordingly, rewards will be sent out. However, recently, a bug has made this particular mode unplayable for players. The issue here is so severe that many players were not even able to create online matches for more than twelve hours. What happens is that whenever players try starting a rival match, they just get a “Your opponent left the match” message. And moreover, for some reason, this is especially prevalent on the PC platform. So, is there a fix for this bug? Continue reading to find out!

EA Sports FC 24 Rivals Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet

It seems like the developers were able to fix the PC-specific issue, as EA Sports FC Direct Communication posted a tweet regarding that. However, for some, this issue still exists. So, until there’s more update from the official team, you can try the following workarounds:

Restart –

Well, players can start with this particular workaround first before trying out other ones. Just do a restart of the game and see if it helps. If not, then do a restart of your PC or console next. And even if the issue isn’t fixed, move on to another workaround.

Turn on Cross-Play –

For u/chute_mi334, the one thing that fixed this whole issue was to turn on cross-play in the game’s settings. If you haven’t tried this, do so and then check whether the issue persists or not.

Clear reserved space –

This workaround is for Xbox players only. Essentially, what you need to do is go to the Manage games and Add-ons section of EA Sports FC 24. Then, navigate to Saved Data > Reserved Space and select Clear Reserved Space. Once this is done, close everything and launch the game. Do this before every session, as mentioned here, and most likely you will be able to play the game normally.

Update the game –

If you happen to be behind on updates, download them ASAP. Ensure that each and every available update for EA FC 24 is installed. And once that’s done, launch the game. If you still encounter this issue, try the next workaround.

Check server status –

When you face any online-related issues, always check first whether the servers are down or not. For EA Sports FC 24, you can follow the EA Sports FC Direct Communication Twitter handle and check for updates regarding server status there. If the servers are down, all you can do is wait for them to go back online.

Validate files –

Verifying the game for missing or corrupted files and repairing them accordingly is a common method of fixing a lot of issues. You can also try this by following the given steps:

Steam

  • Open Steam and then head to Library.
  • Right-click on the game and select Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.

Epic

  • Launch Epic Games Launcher and click on Library.
  • Now, select the three dots on the game’s tile and choose Manage > Verify.

EA App

  • In the EA desktop app, select My Collection.
  • Now, click on the three dots next to EA Sports FC 24 and select the Repair option.
  • After the process runs its course, restart your system. Now check if the issue persists.

Contact support –

Players can also try contacting the official EA support team for additional help regarding this issue. Raise a support ticket and thoroughly explain your issue. You can even do so in the community forums and hope that the team notices it and releases a fix.

So, did any of the provided workarounds prove useful? We hope they did. If yes, then why not check out this guide to get high fps and low input lag in the game?
