Valve has published a detailed statement on independent broadcasts of Dota 2 championships. The company has clarified controversial issues that could arise in the interaction of streamers and tournament operators.
Dota 2 developers have set several prerequisites for all third-party tournament broadcasts. First, streamers can only use DotaTV broadcasts and original content. Secondly, they must fully comply with obligations to the operator – in their absence, the stream in any case cannot contain commercial elements.
Valve clarifies rules for streaming changes Dota 2
Valve advised content creators to personally contact the competition organizers at least two weeks before the start of the event. In this case, if the streamer does not find the requirements of the tournament operator on his own and does not receive an answer for the request, he will be able to start the broadcast without any conditions, except for the above.
In addition, the Dota 2 developers asked the organizers of the championships not to make hasty decisions regarding content authors who do not follow the stated conditions. Valve has encouraged tournament operators to give these streamers an opportunity to honor their commitments rather than filing complaints without litigation.
The company also named a number of restrictions on the conditions that organizers of Dota 2 competitions can put forward. any payments from the streamer.
The new rules for the conduct of third-party tournament broadcasts in Dota 2 came into force on September 15 . The organizers of BTS Pro Series Season 3 were the first to set conditions for independent streamers – content authors were obliged to set a five-minute delay for broadcasting on DotaTV.
The topic has divided community and caused a minor rift between some casters & streamers. We covered last week on what Alliance player FNG had to say about this. We are still not sure if the changes done somehow help. Or are these just reactionary changes from Valve not wanting to offend any side?
