Valve has published a detailed statement on independent broadcasts of Dota 2 championships. The company has clarified controversial issues that could arise in the interaction of streamers and tournament operators.
Dota 2 developers have set several prerequisites for all third-party tournament broadcasts. First, streamers can only use DotaTV broadcasts and original content. Secondly, they must fully comply with obligations to the operator – in their absence, the stream in any case cannot contain commercial elements.

In addition, the Dota 2 developers asked the organizers of the championships not to make hasty decisions regarding content authors who do not follow the stated conditions. Valve has encouraged tournament operators to give these streamers an opportunity to honor their commitments rather than filing complaints without litigation.

The new rules for the conduct of third-party tournament broadcasts in Dota 2 came into force on September 15 . The organizers of BTS Pro Series Season 3 were the first to set conditions for independent streamers – content authors were obliged to set a five-minute delay for broadcasting on DotaTV.
