The Bushman is one of the most elusive NPCs in-game. He does not want to stay in the town so you will have to look for him every time you want to craft or buy gear. He can be found in the wild when certain conditions are met. These conditions are the only consistent thing about his spawns. He can spawn in any biome randomly but it will always be at a time when there is rain or heavy wind. You will notice that it is raining or windy because there will be on-screen indicators such as blowing leaves.
At such times, you should leave the town to go look for him. Another tell-tale sign that he is nearby is a loud and constant whistle. When you hear this whistling, you can be certain that he is nearby. Looking for him is the challenging part. Once you spot a character with a metal bucket-like helmet, you can be assured that you have finally found him. Clear the nearby area of any predators, just to be safer when you are talking to him. You can then buy gear or get it crafted by him.
