DayZ Bios Error Code 0x00050017 & 0x00050009: Is there any fix yet

Bohemia Interactive’s DayZ finally achieved an all-time peak player count of 69K+ players just a few days ago. Originally released on December 13, 2018, the game has since been receiving regular content drops and events, and it even got a DLC next year after its launch. The recent sudden jump in player count has invoked the interest of many curious players, but some issues are making it hard to completely enjoy the game. And those issues happen to be the 0x00050017 & 0x00050009 error codes.

These two error codes mainly happen when the player is either loading the game or trying to join a server. It’s quite an old issue, and as such, players have different kinds of fixes for it. Well, it turns out that this issue is mainly occurring on the Xbox console. So, we have shared a bunch of workarounds for you to try.

Well, back in January 2023, the official team did acknowledge the issue. But an official update regarding a fix wasn’t announced specifically. Anyway, if you are encountering this error code in-game, know that it is mainly due to server-related issues, and there is not much you can do about it. However, you can try a bunch of the workarounds mentioned below.

Hi Billy, thank you for the report. We are aware of this issue and the team is looking into it.

Open your router’s security or settings and unlock bitstudio.com –

A player was able to resolve the 0x00050017 error code on their Xbox console by simply opening their router security app and then unlocking bitstudio.com from there. While this is a somewhat old workaround, we still recommend you give it a try and see if it helps. If not, try the next workaround.

Don’t use the favorite servers filter –

A workaround that was suggested for the 0x00050009 was to just not use the favorite servers filter. Like the first method, this too is a months-old workaround, but that doesn’t mean it can’t work. So, try this, and if the issue remains, move on to another workaround. Additionally, you can also try going through all the community and official section servers and unfavoriting the ones that are favorited. After that, you just need to refresh the server list and then search for your favorite servers.

Check server status –

You can also check out the game’s server status and find out if it is working as intended or not. You can also try changing servers to circumvent this issue. However, if the servers are down, all you can do is wait for it to go back online.

Update the game –

A common way to deal with issues such as this is to keep your game up-to-date with the latest version. DayZ got the 1.23 stable update just a few days ago on November 7, 2023, and if you haven’t installed that, do so ASAP. Once it’s installed, start the game and check if the issue persists.

Allow the game through the Firewall (PC specific)–

If you are encountering this error on your PC (which is not likely), it is possible that the Windows Firewall has blocked internet access of the game, which can lead to this issue. So, what we recommend is that you allow the game through the firewall by following the instructions below. Essentially, what you need to do is:

  • Open Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Firewall & Network Protection.
  • Next, scroll down and click on Allow an app through Firewall.
  • In the new window, click on Change settings button and choose Yes when prompted for admin access.
  • Afterward, find DayZ in the list below, and if it isn’t there, click on Allow another app.. to add the game.
  • Next, checkmark both Private and Public options, and end the process by clicking on OK.

Play the game via XCloud –

Some Xbox players had no problems playing the game through XCloud, so we suggest you give this a try. Now, since you will be using cloud gaming to play DayZ, make sure your connection speed is good and that there are no major interferences.

And that marks the end of our knowledge on this topic. Additionally, if you aren’t able to see DayZ servers on PS4, check out this guide. For more such content, don’t forget to visit DigiStatement. Also, read: DayZ servers not showing on Xbox: Fixes & Workarounds
