Darkest Dungeon 2: How to enable Ultrawide Resolution Support

Are you tired of playing your favorite game, Darkest Dungeon 2, on a cramped screen with black bars on the sides? Do you have a high-resolution ultrawide monitor that you want to take full advantage of while exploring the treacherous depths of the game? Well, you’re in luck! In this article, we’ll be discussing how to enable ultrawide resolution/support in Darkest Dungeon 2, so you can fully immerse yourself in the world of terror and despair without any pesky distractions. So, let’s dive in and discover how you can make the most out of your gaming experience with this simple fix!

Darkest Dungeon 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed gothic RPG, has finally been released, after being in early access for over a year. Fans of the series have eagerly awaited the chance to delve into the madness once more, facing the unspeakable horrors that lurk in the darkness. However, some players have reported an issue with the game’s resolution options, specifically with regard to ultrawide displays. Ultrawide monitors offer a wider and more immersive field of view, but many players have found that the game doesn’t natively support this resolution. Fortunately, there is a workaround to enable ultrawide resolution in Darkest Dungeon 2, and in this article, we’ll walk you through the steps to do just that.

Darkest Dungeon 2: How to enable Ultrawide Resolution Support

The default settings of Darkest Dungeon 2 show black bars on the sides of an ultrawide screen. The good news is that there is a workaround for this that has been reported to be working for many. The workaround to enable ultrawide resolution involves changing the game’s graphics settings to windowed mode and selecting the highest available resolution, which is usually 3840×2160. If all of that sounds overwhelming to you, don’t worry; we have got you covered. Just follow the steps given below to do the same.

  • Open the game and navigate to the Settings menu.
  • Click on the Graphics tab and change the Display mode to Windowed.
  • Select the highest resolution available in the list, which should be 3840×2160 (if you have an ultrawide monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio), and click the Update button.
  • Click on Keep Settings and switch back to Fullscreen Window.
  • Click the Update button again, which should now update the resolution of the game to the monitor’s default resolution without any stretching or black bars. However, the downside to this method is that you will need to do this every time you exit the game.

With those steps, you should be able to play the game without any black bars on an ultrawide screen. Well, many players have expressed disappointment about the lack of official ultrawide support in Darkest Dungeon 2. With ultrawide monitors becoming more common, many games have started to include support for these wider aspect ratios. While the current workaround does provide a solution, it’s not an ideal one and requires the player to repeat the steps each time they enter the game. It’s possible that the developers will listen to the feedback and add proper ultrawide support in a future update, but for now, players will have to settle for the workaround. And that is all the information we have on enabling ultrawide resolution/support in Darkest Dungeon 2. We hope this guide was informative.
